Senate Finance Committee votes 15-8 against Government public option for health care. And Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., who has been trying to push a compromise Bill is calling it a victory.

"My job is to put together a bill that gets to 60 votes in the full Senate", according to AP. "No one shows me how to get to 60 votes with a public option," he added.

After all the delays it now looks like there will be votes in both the House and the Senate in October, wioth a vote on a compromise between the two much deeper into the Fall.

I honestly doubt there will be a vote in the Senate in October.  Once this "compromise bill" hits the senate floor, it will get a public option, and then probably stall like the Energy "Cap and Trade" bill.

Why can't they just come up with a few simple changes?  Instead of a public option just let people buy into Medicare at a younger age.

Rob- that's too easy.  Got to tax and penalize the American people so the insurance companies get fatter and happier.  Max Baucus received more insurance lobbyist money than any other member. And they let him write a bill?

Rob - thats called government run health care, I'm surprised Bonnie agree's but I guess the public option is the "death panel" of the day so she's taking both sides of the issue.

Simon,

Watch them just come up with a new name or and end run to achieve the same purpose.

The funny thing is that the big majority is blaming the minority... even though the fighting is in their own party...

Simon- I just don't understand why we can't do just one bill at a time that is just one thing. Like:

1. Tort reform- never will happen because trial lawyers own the bill.

2. Allow insurance companies to sell across state lines. You want to see how fast pre existing condition clauses will get removed? Allow free market to work, allow private competition. Even Pres. Obama says we need to allow competition. So allow it! Private not government!

3. Allow more programs like Florida Healthy Kids for other states. We have a great example here that works! All kids under the age of 19, no excuse not to have insurance. The co pays for poor kids= ZERO.

4. Improve the VA hospitals and start taking care of our vets.

That is one thing at a time. Vote yes or no. No mumbo jumbo, no bull crap. Just simple English. Katerina

I agree with Hugh.  They will just repackage it and try to trick the voters.

Katrina, don't you see, healthcare reform was NEVER about fixing the real problems.  It is about CONTROL.  Otherwise, why aren't they addressing the real problems???

Not one bill by the Dems have a law to ditch the laws they created that stops insurance companies from competing over state lines.  Yet, that is the single largest change necessary for COMPETITION!  As we all know, competition lowers prices for the consumer.  Yet the politicians (all of them) have not changed this law.

But, in HR3200, guess what?  You got it, the corrupt politicians do change that law so that they can put in another law...the GOVERNMENT OPTION.   So, Dems are only for competition if they can take over healthcare of all Americans!!    It is no secret to them that the government option is not true competion as businesses can't compete against the "limitless money" from the tax payers pockets.
