Architectural Detail from the MKT (Missouri-Kansas-Texas) depot located near downtown San Antonio.  The depot was demolished in 1969 but this beautiful piece was left intact and moved to Los Patios.

Shirley

I love architectural detail like this. A few years ago I ran into a gentleman who had purchased the rubber molds for concrete items like this from a defunct concrete mold company that had been closed for years in your city. His intent was to use the molds to make new molds. We purchased a couple of concrete lantern posts for our garden area from him.

What gorgeous details.  I love these details in the old buildings and homes.  Makes me sigh....

Hi Shirley, it's beautiful.  I can't imagine trying to relocate such a grand structure --- I bet they were sweating bullets until it was installed in it's new home.

Howdy there Shirley

I'm sure glad they found a new home, for such a fine looking peace. Way to many fine look-en peaces like this one has been lost.

Hi Carl and Ceil, yes they are still open.

Hi Shirley, We have more buildings, etc., with details like this than Dallas does.  Come on down!

Hi Carl, It looks so graceful and romantic.  I love it.

Hi, Shirley:

I used to take my grandmother to Los Patios and wander around the grounds. My family used to go to their Sunday brunches in the old days, too. The Salado Creek makes this a beautiful place to relax.

Thanks for the memories!

Cheers,

Robin

Fortunately we still have our beautiful historic depot in downtown San Diego. Los Angeles kept theirs, too. Both are serving as train stations for Amtrak and the commuter trains.

Shirley - Those are amazing photos (the top one and the one in your lower subsequent comment).  I had uncles who worked at the MKT railroad in Parsons, Kansas, during the 1930s and early 1940s.  There was a fairly neat train station there as well. . .But I don't think it was as pleasing to the eye as the one you have pictured here.
