Dear Senator Feinstein,
I have voted Democreat for at least 30 years, and I have never been so dissapointed in my party. I believe i was personally responsible for turning at least 10 Republicans into, at least temporary Democrats. I argued long and hard about the state of Health care in this country, and I was able to convince alot of people that as Americans, we have a common enemy: the insurance companies. These companies do nothing for us, they only siphon off dollars. Even the conservatives I spoke to, had to reluctantly agree.
This was our golden opportunity to eliminate the companies, or at least, give people an opt-out. How can you let this slip out of our hands?
It is with sadness that I came to realize that statesmanship is truly dead, and that profit comes before justice in Washington. I hold all of my Democrats responsible.
Shame on You All,
Michael Gerry

I do not want the insurance companies and all their employees out of business. At some point we need to take some responsibility and turn the government back into a safety net instead of a daddy.
I never thought that the health care system in this country was perfect. But I also never thought the government was who we should trust to fix it!
Allison - If the government doesn't fix it then who will? Certainly not the insurance companies themselves. I had FAR superior medical care when my daughter was a baby and we were on government insurance than I have now. I'd much rather actually pay for that option if it were possible.
Karen - The insurance companies wouldn't go out of business. They would be forced to become reasonable to compete. That sounds fine to me.
Michael - I like your letter and I'm glad you sent it. What a dissapointment this is all turning into.
No one should have to choose between health care and groceries. For many Americans in this economy it simply does come down to that. It's wrong.
I never thought that the federal government was a cure for all of our ills, but I just don't think that the health Insurance companies have Americans' best interest at heart. I believe that, no matter which political affiliation we identify with, we all have the same needs. when you get laid-off from a job, and have to get your own health insurance, the "Blue Crosses" don't care whether you're Democrat or Republican. If you have high blood pressure, you're not getting insurance. This is too important to leave to these companies. Why not leave the public option open to people. Why do the Insurance companies think they can't compete.
Don't let the vested interests divide us. We all have the same needs.
