I just ran across this article and would like to share with those of you that are in states that do not require the licensing of Home Inspectors.

Here is the link: http://www.canada.com/life/inspect+your+home+inspector/2050469/story.html

Again this is for the states that have no regulations. Not for those who have qualified Home Inspectors.

Is Mike Holmes out of line in what he says or does he bring up good points?

Anyone who knows me knows my opinions.

I would like to here your opinions.

Hi Mike - Good point made for thsoe states who do not have licensing laws for home inspectors.  I would add that it's  good idea to check out the credentials/references of home inspectors even in states that have licensing laws.  I've used a number of home inspectors and there are a good number that are very qualified and do a great job.

Great post.  In Michigan we have a license for most professional services that can be verified through the state's web site.  See this post for more information:  http://activerain.com/blogsview/1263951/verify-any-michigan-license-here-  Does Ohio have something similar?  Jason

We have a licensing requirement but - like many things - it sets a minimum standard only.  Word of mouth recommendation and professional reputation are still very important.

I believe they are licensed here in Michigan but as someone said above word of mouth and longevity goes a long way.
