Is A Gun Really A Lethal Weapon?

By
Real Estate Agent

The regulation of fire arms has been a much contested subject for years.

The issue to restrict guns came to a head after the attempted assassination of President Reagan.  His Press Secretary Jim Brady was critically wounded and physically impaired for life during the attack from a gun shot wound.

Many gun owners fear the Obama administration will take "aim" at the right to bear arms.

There have been many efforts kicked around to restrict gun ownership and therefore remove rights granted under the Second Amendment.

After Free Speech our founding fathers identified the right to bear arms as the second most important right granted under the Constitution.

Supporters of gun control point out that a gun is a lethal weapon.

Using that definition if we are going to control one lethal weapon, we should take equal action to control them all.

How long will it take this gun to jump up and become lethal?

Tony Soprano and friends like these lethal weapons

Baseball BatCrow Bar

We all know someone who will potentially turn these into a lethal weapon

Booz

These lethal weapons have the capacity of killing an entire family at one time

By themselves all of these lethal weapons are passive.  They have no animation on their own.

As with all potentially lethal weapons they all require one element to propel them into becoming a deadly weapon.

                                        THE HUMAN ELEMENT

The gun, baseball bat, crowbar, alcohol, car or truck are all inanimate objects until they are placed in the wrong hands.

Protect our Second Amendment rights and oppose any legislation designed to infringe upon them.

Bonnie,

My gun will be a lethal weapon if anyone tries to hurt my family.

Bonnie - anything can be a weapon, and virtually any weapon can be lethal, it all depends upon who is wielding it. They are all only tools and dependant upon the tool user for what they do. I support the right to keep and bear arms, as well as to arm bears! And of course, to bare arms.

Syreeta Thank you for commenting.

Mike F - My Beretta is on my nightstand loaded with a high capacity mag and Black Talons.  My son customized it for me.

Mike S - I agree anything can be a weapon.  Look at the kid who was just killed in Chicago.  (Great ad for the Olympics - hope they see Utube in Denmark)

I was told recently that our right to bear arms may be under attack from another source.  The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which the Obama administration seems to favor has sections that deal with gun ownership where children are.  It takes it not only out of the homes where children live, but also communities where children live.

Here's the catch.  If we sign on to the treaty,  then we are obligated constitutionally to enact it, right?
So how can the US goverment sign on to a UN (international) treaty that is so blatantly adverse to our constitution?  The UN does not care about the constitution of the United States...it only cares about the UN.  So can this be a back door into gun ownership outlaw in the US?

BTW, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child has a lot of other things in that might make your skin crawl as a parent...not just the trambling of our constitution.

Ron,  Oh things like taking your child away from you if you are deemed not to be a good parent?

Check out who Valerie Jarrett is and her Mothers involvement with the Eriksson Foundation.  Her Mother is an educator and has some pretty radical ideas about child rearing.  Also a Prof in the same school as Bill Ayers. So many radicals around the President it makes your head spin.

While you are at it check out the housing project she owns in Chicago and do some research on Valerie the slum lord who could profit personally from the Olympics.  She runs something called Habitat Inc.  I think.

Tana, so is my personal gun.  The one in the photo my son built.

I like it but I prefer to carry one that is smaller.  I hated it when I had to carry for the job.  Always had to wear jackets even over a dress.

JOB? What did you do?  I don't have a job where I have to carry a gun :) Well, I probably sometimes should.. :) I have a smaller one that fits in my hand just perfectly with an ivory handle... but I don't remember what kind it is... It stays put away :)

Scott - Didn't the gang in Chicago who killed the honor student use a weapon?  Would you think that might make the Olympic committee wonder about the safety of selecting Chicago?

What about health care?  I did not see if mentioned.

CDC reported 15,019 deaths in USA 2001 from falls.

In 2005 10,100 people were killed using firearms

I propose a 30 day waiting period on ladders.

Larry, I think all ladders need to be registered too.  All owners should have to complete a ladder safety course. All manufacturers should be required to imprint a laser serial number on the hinges.

Think that would improve the stats?  Or is it more appropriate to say - You can't fix stupid?

Bonnie, not too long ago in a city twenty minutes from where I live, a family of three (mom, two sons) was murdered by the husband using his bare hands.  It was a horrible crime, no blood, no beating, no bullets.  Perhaps if the wife had a gun, their lives would have been spared.

Yolanda,  Legislation will only be effective against those who own guns for legal purposes.  The criminals will still be able to buy them and use them against a defenseless populace.

A long time ago, when my wife was a single woman, she had to use a gun to defend herself. She probably would not be alive today if not for the gun. Anecdotal evidence for sure, but to my wife, a pretty strong argument.

Kevin,  Hats off to your wife.  More women should own guns and know how to use them. My husband is away several nights a week.  I keep mine handy all the time.  I'm not looking to use it but I'm not afraid of it either.
