It's that time again, for Blazin' Saddles at the Tour de Cove fundraiser for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) in La Jolla California on Sunday October 25th, from 9:30 until 2 pm.

No Mel Brooks, insults, or raucous humor, just a bunch of very talented athletes participating in the San Diego Triathlon Challenge (the 16th annual) sponsored by Aspen Medical Products, AND a 4 ½ hour spin-a-thon with 100 spincycles and krankcycles overlooking beautiful La Jolla Cove.
The San Diego Triathlon Challenge is a half ironman event:
- 1.2 mile ocean swim beginning and ending at La Jolla Cove
- 56 mile challenging and hilly bike ride
- 13.1 mile hilly run from La Jolla Cove to Torrey Pines State Park and back
World-class challenged athletes, professional triathletes, celebrities and other able-bodied atheletes will participate on this beautiful course along the ocean.
Tour de "Blazin' Saddles" Cove is an amazing spinning event with folks participating individually and in teams for periods of 1 to 4 and ½ hours on spin and krankcycles with music, guest instructors and entertainment on a jumbo outdoor screen.
All proceeds raised by participants will benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), where 80% of the funds they raise annually go to support physically challenged athletes in every state and dozens of countries with handcycles, prosthetic devices, varying kinds of adaptive sports equipment (e.g., sports wheelchairs, mono-skis, tandem bicycles), training and competition expenses, mentoring and fitness clinics and community outreach programs to enable these individuals to continue training and competing in athletic events.

You can make donations on the CAF website. Or why not consider participating - register for the Tour de Cove spinathon, or support one of the people you know who is participating.
If you are in the area, stop by to show your support and watch these amazing athletes compete in beautiful La Jolla California. It will make a difference in your life.

Jeff this is a wonderul event to participate in - what a great idea. I'm not sure we have anything like this in Phoenix but perhaps you'd know? I am alwasy so amazed and impressed by the challenged athletes who can run circles around able bodied folks. Years ago when I lived in Vail I assisted with blind skiers and that was totally amazing - such focused and upbeat and full of life folks. Good luck on the event!
