A tale of two Presidents

I came across a blog earlier today that had a YouTube Video posted that really intrigued me, so I went ahead and posted it to a DEFAULT BLOG POST and let the full impact of the video sink in.  I decided to just repost the whole blog and add my two cents worth...

After taking care of most of my business for the day, I came back here to ActiveRain and sat through the display once again and watched the warm reception that President Bush received when he visited Dubya and then the comparison of the Marine Reception at Camp Lejeune.  The difference would be the difference between a Led Zeppelin concert and the response a string quartet would expect to receive at a Governors' ball.

The exit of both Presidents is even stranger if you were to compare them side by side.

So, not sure what you think of this but this is how I feel as a 10 year Army veteran...

First, I believe the the opinions of our service members are much more genuine than what the main stream press reports on a regular basis.  We all know that the press can and does report based on it's own agenda and views.  The opinions of main stream America are often swayed by how ell or how bad a job the press does.

The Military on the other hand not only deal with all of the day to day issues that every other American deals with but they are the ones who put their lives on the line.  They are the ones who really understand - at least on a gut level - how committed their Commander-in Chief is to their issues.  I can tell you how devastating a change occurred from Nixon to Ford to Carter and back again to Reagan.  A Commander-in-Chief who is both focused and dedicated to the needs of his warriors makes all the difference.

To me, it is more than obvious that President Bush, despite what you may think of him, had the support of our Armed Forces and that our sitting President does not.

Right now the President is in Denmark - acting as a lobbyist for Chicago in order to get the Olympic Games for that city. All this despite the fact that Chicagoans are at best luke warm about the games going there in 2016. There are protests and websites - try http://www.chicagoansforrio.com/

So now we have the President, the First Lady, Oprah and others flying in on separate planes to try and get something that by the latest poll, half the City doesn't want. And considering the corruption that always seems to surround Olympic Games, is Chicago with its history the best place? I don't think so, but that is the subject for another blog. Oh and before I move on, let's spare a thought for the First Lady and the "sacrifice" she's making! "As much of a sacrifice as people say this is for me or Oprah or the president to come for these few days..." - GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the President has had ONE CONVERSATION with our commander in Afghanistan in the last 75 days! ONE!!!!

If you remember back to the election, the then candidate Obama told us that this would be his top priority. That we HAD to win this one. That President Bush had failed the country; failed the troops; failed his math class and failed anything else he could think of!

The President also told us that the days of lobbyists being in charge were over - I'd ask Joe Wilson about that one - he says it better than me! But, now with America's top commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, saying GIVE ME MORE TROOPS, the President is over in Copenhagen being the Lobbyist in Chief.

I guess that might explain the different reaction from the Marine Corps given to President Bush and President Obama!

My thanks to my friend Hugh for the video

John, I am a Navy brat and know very well what military life is like.   In all the years I was a dependent, I never once heard anyone disrespect the sitting president the way this one has been disrespected.  There was a blog posted in the Blatant Politics group showing the previous president speaking to a totally silent group of military personnel.  By the time he was almost out the door, the civilian public and the military were pretty fed up with what he put upon us all.

Now lets talk about how many trips which president has taken.  Did you know, that with 17 months left in office, the previous president had logged in excess of 400 trips?  Majority of which were personal.  To Crawford, to wherever, nothing to do with conducting states business.  In face, when Katrina was about to hit, he was on yet another personal trip to help McCain celebrate his birthday, totally ignoring all the warnings about the pending disaster.

Terry,

You win - I really amnot armed to go toe to toe with anyone quoting political statistice - if you want to talk real estate I have got the numbers down for the Hemet San Jacinto Valley, CA marketplace - but politics to me is more of a feeling, and not something that we need to keep a scorecard on.  Either you are for a leader or you are not - either way, this is America and we move on.
