I can honestly tell you that before Project Blogger began, I had no idea that a blog needed marketing.  I figured blogging was enough!  Write key-word rich articles with all the right tools and Voila!

Well....you can try that route, but I can tell you that it takes so much more than writing to increase you GoogleBlog Directories Ranking and for people to find you.  One article I mentioned before and I will mention again that Paul Chaney Guided me to is Lee Odden's 25 Tips for marketing your blog.  I have printed out the post and have it next to my screen to remind me of what I've done and what I need to work on.

I know everyone reading this is thinking, so if we do all that, when will we have time to actually work?  Those are my sentiments exactly!  I'm going a lot slower than I would like, and realized that sometimes it is good to get help and that's where I'm going with this post.

One way I've gotten help  is with number 12 on the list, which says:  "Submit RSS feed and Blog URL to prominent RSS and Blog directories / search engines".   When I started researching the amount of blog directories, I found out there were over 100 of them!  At that time I asked Paul if he knew of someone who would do the submissions and he did.

It so happened that Paul's son, Allan, was helping people with blog submissions.  They had so many requests, that it developed into a business for him.  Allan Chaney did all the blog submissions for me and then e-mailed me a summary of all the blog directories and other relevant details.  Paul wrote a post about it - Submit Your Blog to Blog Directories and Search Engines.  The most important thing here is that the work was done by someone trustworthy and I did not have to do it myself!  Thanks Alan for all the hard work.

You can contact Alan Chaney at achaney82@gmail.com

Next, I got Rick to write his first post.....I wonder who else I can recruit?

Great endorsement. I need to do this too. I'm almost invisible at Live in Los Gatos on the web. It is Soooooo frustrating to write so much and be SO invisible!!

Ines, I have to set aside some time to read more about doing some of these things, but some days I just about have enough time to make a few comments on blogs.  Thanks for your valuable information as always.

Mary - there are so many things we can get help with to improve our sites - that list is pretty intimidating when you first look at it.

Cyndee - Paul's son was awesome and hopefully will be able to help his business a bit too.

Beth - don't even get me started, there is so much to learn and I am sooo glad I am in good hands.

George - I feel the same way, but once I took the leap of going out into the real blog-world, I realized I had to do it right.....and even then, I feel like there's still so much to do.

Ines, I read Paul's post earlier on (I subscribe to it) and didn't realize that this could be done nor the fact that there companies out there to do it. Thanks

I have been wondering the same thing -- I don't want to be the blogging queen -- I want to be the best agent that I can be -- and that means I only can spend a certain amount of time blogging -- so I like the idea of enlisting others to help with the submissions and marketing.  I will bookmark this blog so I can accomplish my goal of providing great service to my current clients and taking the time to develop marketing for future clients.

Wayne - you never know unless you ask, Paul's son did a great job with all those submissions.

Mariana - you better get moving, because here's Rick's post:  Hurricane Season - are you ready?

Joan- I think a lot of us have made a conscious commitment to blogging, but learning all the technical stuff and then also marketing can be very time consuming - hiring a website provider that can help with SEO is a big step, then little help like this makes a huge difference....and we can still sell Real Estate!

Ines, I agree with you. It's enough to just do the writing. I'll take a look at Paul's son's site again. He may get FLOODED after Paul's post and yours!!!!

Mary - I'm sure it would be a pleasant surprised to get bombarded with business.  I don't know if his site is working yet, but you can definitely contact him by e-mail or here's his phone number 615-495-9656

Lynda - my pleasure.  Now can anyone find someone to massage my back while I blog?

Yes, it can be time consuming but I've been known to run seaches and add my blog to several places.  With my new web host, I'm actually seeing where some of the people are coming from.  And yes, some are coming from those directories and sites I submited my blog to.  Great reminder and arguement to take the time and submit.  (Hummm, I've heard that somewhere before.  Different context. lol)

Steve - very perceptive of you! In my opinion, in this Internet world, there are 2 types of people you can hire.  The ones that promise you the world and don't deliver, and the ones that do exactly as they promised.  Allan Chaney falls into the second category.   (and trust me, I've dealt with people in the first one too)

Laurie- and you are doing awesome with your blog, you know how much work it is.

Jay- if that was the case, It would be cake, no?  LOL!

Missy - I know what you mean.

janeAnn- the book is a great first step, and you will be referencing it often (I do).  Let us know when you take the jump.

Paul - are you kidding me? it's been an honor to be your apprentice, although I hope you are not too disappointed at my standings in the competition.

Aziz - you better believe those are coming!  The least I could do is post the schedule.  Thanks for the reminder.

This is really so very true. I think more of us are embracing this concept as we learn here on the rain, about seo, anchor text, tags, titles and the like.....it's all connected. Thanks ; )

Hi Ines - I just went over and read Paul's post on this, and I have a question.  Is this something you do once, submit to all those places, or each time you write a new post?  I didn't see that in your post or in Paul's, so am wondering how that works.

I barely find time most of the time to actually write a post, never mind find all those places to submit it all to - Allan's service sounds perfect.  What kind of measure is there to know that this does something for your blog?

Thanks for sharing this info - always learning cool stuff like this from you!

Ines... Alans site idea is excellent.

For those with wordpress blogs, they can put a list of PING sites that will automatically update each time they write a post. A good list of the top sites can be found here: http://seoblackhat.com/2005/09/05/rss-ping-list/

This is found under Options > Writing > in the Update Services field.

Ann - it's something you only do once - the way to track it is with your tracking system on your site.  Once you start seeing your stats and where traffic is coming from, you'll be able to identify some of these site directories.

Jeff - thanks for your $.02, it's always appreciated!  (Ann, your diachronic site will ping each post automatically)

TLW - you are not out of your league at all - you're right with me about getting someone to take care of it!  : )

Ann - that's the platform used by RSS Pieces, which you will undoubtedly have.  Mary should read this, she would crack up!

Monika - definitely tell him about it, it makes a huge difference and the way I look at it (it can't hurt).
