I must have been thinking green when the Cartridge World advertisement on iShopNevada.com caught my eye. I've heard of refilling my printer cartridges before but I didn't know it was so easy.

Do you also hesitate to print photos at home because you think it is too expensive? Are you concerned about protecting the future of our environment by reducing the number of cartridges that end up in landfills?

Cartridge World USA

Nancy Mehta of Cartridge World has the solution. Refill your printer cartridge!

Nancy provides customers with cost effective, environmentally friendly alternatives to continually purchasing new printer consumables. So if you live in the Las Vegas / Henderson area, take your cartridges to Nancy Mehta. You'll be doing your budget and the environment a favor.

Hey, this is a neat idea, and there's one not terribly far from me.  Will have to check it out.

Thanks, Kate.

Good Jane. I'm so happy! And if you ever happen to be driving to Las Vegas, stop in to greet Nancy... and me of course too. Kate

Kate, I've tried this over the years and had mixed results. It sounds great and ecological and in my experience sadly doesn't work for a lot of cartridges... :} My theory is that the printer manufacturers make it harder to fill them because of course that's where they make their money (!).

Shoshana, this wouldn't surprise me... about the manufacturers. Go to Nancy's company website and they talk about some of this. I imagine she would be happy to answer any questions too. Thanks for commenting, as always! Kate

Wow! Nancy's site is certainly more complete than the companies that refill around here (which use the "one size fits all" approach).  My worst experiences were with Lexmark cartridges, and I notice that Nancy specifically mentions Canon. Canon has always been one of my faves, too, especially with their commitment to making printers with separate color cartridges. Who needs to replace an entire cartridge when you've only used up the blue? So, ask her to franchise the stores and try us in Florida :)

Kate,

I've been getting my cartridges refilled with limited success. Sometimes it works...other times not.

Terry, Probably like any other industry, the person and up-to-date technology can make the difference...

Shoshana, I'll pass that on to her. I'm sure she'll appreciate hearing that.

Kate - I read an article once that complained that landfills would entirely fill the country.  There was no more room anywhere for any more landfills.  It was written in 1888 about the site you see below.  That is what that landfill looks like now.  It is RFK Stadium, built in the early 1960's.  It seems that landfills make EXCELLENT foundations for really heavy stuff, like stadiums.  I wonder how many ink cartridges it would take to support that!

It used to be that I would routinely tell people about how to save energy, different tips about what materials to use, what to change, and so forth.  I did it as a part of my inspection for free.

Now people pay me to say the same things and include a really cool computer report, that pretty much says the same thing, for money, that I used to offer for free.

I think that's why they call it GREEN...

Hi Kate: This is great advice - same money and the environment at the same time!

Matt, I think you hit the nail on the head. If we can save money, maintain quality and protect the environment simultaneously, more people will be interested.
