Day SpaWhile many Realtors don't like to think of themselves as truly Salespeople which they are, a softer view of themselves is Customer Service which is a component of Sales.

Two Thoughts On Excellent Customer Service:

With the use of oral, written, or web types of feedback determine for yourself if you are

  • DELIGHTING your customers. This is what you should strive for. They just love your service and that you go way above their expectations, answering and addressing their concerns probably even before they know they have a problem.
  • CREATE RAVING FANS. In real estate they call it word of mouth or referrals. Get those delighted clients to recommend doing business with you and themselves again at some point but with others they know that need your services.

Sales, or the Customer Service aspect of it, is not rocket science. Just take VERY GOOD care of the people you work with. You are like the massaging hands working on someone at a Day Spa.

Great customer service you would think would be more common than it is considering the present business climate. We all know great service when we get it!

How can we afford not to give our clients great customer service.  I call it high touch.  Especially in this climate with listings that are not selling, you still might take the heat.

Gary thanks for the reminder to Realtors. I was a Customer Service Mgr. before entering the wonderful world of reat estate. I have found that real estate is a combination of sales, marketing and customer service. If you remember to treat your clients as you want to be treated you'll never go wrong.

Treating clients right is not rocket science, but it should be mandatory. Treat them as you would want to be treated if the roles were reversed.

Customer service, the most important component of sales.  It's what makes or breaks referrals.  In the NEW world of Social Media, Marketing , and Networking, customer service is even more important now than ever before. Great post Gary.  :-)

Customer service is very important in this day and age.  We should not leave people setting around waiting for us.

It is harder and harder to find today, so those you make the effort will really stand out!  People don't forget great customer service, they really appreciate and value it!

I liked the customer service part, but I really like the salespeople part.  If you don't understand that you might be in the wrong business.

Lest I forget, which I seem to be doing these days, I'm going to picture all of my clients with their heads wrapped in towels, so I remain aware of my role as customer service provider. Now, can I make an appointment please?

I'm still surprised when people tell me - I can always get a hold of you.  You always call me back. It's amazing to me that some folks are still in business when they ignore that fundamental fact.  Customer service is non-existent in so many areas right now, we have the opportunity to shine.

So many agents hopped on board when things were booming. It seems to me that many who are sticking with our profession are returning to the basics. Good post.

Gary,

When I went into real estate, I was truly shocked I was in sales...sounds kind of silly...but I come from a service business background.  And you are absolutely right, customer service is key....you want to meet and exceed their expectations!
