A few weeks back, I wrote about my son becoming a member of the Cowboys, as part of the Frisco Football League. They have had three games so far and they get better each week. So, why I am telling you this? Well, tonight I am sitting at the computer and putting together some music for the game tomorrow. I did the same thing about 2 weeks ago. See, I am the game announcer during the home games only. During that time I get to announce the players and the plays, but I also put together some warm-up music before the game and play music during timeouts and half-time.

2 weeks ago, I went through my entire list of music and was still looking for more. I then decided to send a message on twitter, facebook, and myspace for some ideas. To my surprise I received a TON of suggestions of good football songs. Songs that add some excitement to downtime during the game. Don't misunderstand... I'm not trying to be a DJ but I do like to have fun.

So, whenever you are in a bind, know that you have thousands of social media friends that are willing to help out. I utilize these friends often. See, social media/networking is not just about you sharing a link to your website. Sometimes its about sharing other knowledge and experiences... and other times its about asking for advice or suggestions.

Alright, back to putting additional music on the list. Wish us luck against the Chargers tomorrow and watch for some updates on Twitter @JCannata.

This is spot on!  I rely on my computer friend all the time!

With a large enough network ... the power of the experience and the knowledge is tremendous!

That's great that you're that much involved with your kids' interests.  I can only think of "hit the road, jack" but I don't go to games very often.

Lisa - Its just another example of utilizing your contacts. :-)

LOL Donna. I do not have 'Hit The Road Jack". I think at the ages of 11 & 12 I have to play something a little less offensive. HA.

John, thanks for writing this post...it opened my eyes on social media.  Go Cowboys....Why not put some of that music in a post for the members to hear the great tunes??

Karen - I couldnt agree more. Know your resources.

Rebecca - I'll certainly share some music. I was directed to quite a few good ones.

John, so you just put a question on Tweeter and people send you an email?  I gotta admit, I still don't quite understand how it all works.  I get more junk mail and invites to take a quiz or send money than any good information.  What am I doing wrong?

I love the instant responses you can get from Twitter John - the other week when I was in a bind with a skunk under my deck - i got some quick responses too from my tweet about it too.

Brian - It's probably the people you follow. I do follow some people that have an 'auto responder' and/or never really enter anything themselves. But I follow a lot of REAL people. I'm on twitter (actually tweetdeck) throughout the day and reply to the messages I see and have an interest in. In return, people pay attention to you more and carry real conversations. So, when I randomly enter a question it gets a few responses. Don't get me wrong... it doesnt ALWAYS work. Sometimes you have to send it 2 or 3 times because people are not online all day long (typically). So, they may miss the question originally. Also, I set up MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter to update together. So, my question actually covers 3 platforms instead of the one. Good luck. Feel free to ask me anything and I'll do my best to respond.

Karen - Another good example. I've had the pleasure of asking and receiving many questions/answers on twitter. I had an issue once while sitting in Best Buy. The geek squad was not able to help (at least not quickly) and I actually received a response from someone in another geeksquad... I think it was Ohio... who told me what to tell the Tech. I did, and it was resolved.
