Pete Willner - Broker Direct Real EstateI read an interesting article in which it said some real estate agents hire a psychic to cleanse spirits from homes that haven't sold. This got me thinking..........are my listings haunted? No, but it did make me wonder what some Realtors or homeowners have done to try and improve their luck when the listing has gone flat. I've never had anything odd take place but I'm sure a few of you here have some stories. Care to share since Holloween is right around the corner?

Its odd... but sometimes when we walk into houses to stage them you can just "feel" something about them.

Something is off.

I am not saying they are haunted but I do say they put off an "energy".

Staging can sometimes change that... sometimes not.

HA! HA! HA!

I saw one of those reality TV shows maybe flip this house?  can't remember... but there was this one lady who was a corn. flake.

She did the whole decontamination of bad spirits thing too.  that's the first i'd ever heard of it.

All I gotta' say is do whatever you gotta' do to get your head right, ya' know?

And then make sure you have your home staged properly - decluttered, fresh neutral paint throughout the entire house, even hire a professional stager if things are at that point.

It's funny all the things we do when we don't know what else to do.  ha!

I'm thinking that "energy"  might just be someone forgot to dump the diaper pail.  We paid someone to stage our house, we exhaustively place fresh flowers around and just have a feeling it's just right time/right people.  Sold a house 5 yrs ago with no sign and a bidding war and we didn't even clean it.  Got 30K more than we asked. Now our house (that looks like a museum) has been sitting for 20-something days and all we get is whiny, barely prospective buyers.  Ugh.

Hey Dave,
Many sellers right now feel your pain. With the shift in market the buyer are starting to wield their power. With the increased inventory and still favorable interest rate, there are quite a few buyers with the "tire kicker" mentality and the ability to play the waiting game. Many are hoping to catch someone in a pinch in an attempt to buy "under market" while forsaking some attributes they might desire. There is someone out there who your home is perfect for and is willing to pay the price. Only marketing and drive will determine when your home finds that person and that person finds their dream.

Good luck with your sale,
