Tips for using Social Networking In Business

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX DFW Associates 0534986

Have you gotten on board for with online social networking for your business?  Are you still skeptical? Are you using social networking for business or just to play games and keep up with friends?

If you are dedicated to professional development try some of these tips to get started. You don't have to beat yourself over the head , just do it and see what happens!

  • Don't rush out and create accounts on every single social network. Pick one or two and concentrate on those before adding another
  • Talk to your colleauges to see what networks they are on and what's working for them
  • Complete your profile all the way. Add your picture. Put in your hobbies on "About You". Consumers like to see that you are a real person like them
  • Be true to your business practice and ethics. It will show if you are conscientious and professional
  • Consider your audience and make your conversations geared towards the industry you are promoting. You might hit on personal subjects sometimes, but go back to your business
  • Don't overpromote and come off as a "know it all" . Post engaging content that helps people interact with you
  • Socialize your site and put a link where visitors can "join" or come back to your site on their own
  • If you are on a strictly social site , add your business page as a link. If all you talk about is work your friends may think you are always trying to sell them something and avoid you!

So take it slow and have fun with it. There are so many sites out there to choose from.  Social networks provide easy, fun ways to communicate and hopefully bring you more business!

Great information.  There is not enough time in the day to join them all and keep up.  Must leave time to sell!

I agree, I spend a little time in the morning and in the evening! That way it doesn't interfere with my normal work schedule!

Tracy:

Good post. Social networking is very important and can be helpful when done correctly. Blogging on active rain brought me two clients this past year. One was a home sale over 200,000 the other was an apartment lease.

Social networking, should be at the top anyones to-do list. Not only do you make a lot of contacts, and have new clients find you. You get to make alot of new and mighty good friends.

Do you use FireFox as your web browser, if you don't have FireFox. You can down load it for free. Then you can down load the add on ScribeFire. Thats what I use, to write my comments and blog posts, over at my little ole Blogging Homestead.

For adding photos, to your blog posts and in to your comments. At the top of the tool bar, of the comment box and at the top of the blog post writing box, is a image inserter and editer. Its the third box from the right.

If you need any help just let me know, and it'll be my pleasure to give you a helping hand.

This is a great list of things to consider Tracy.  While I do have my profile on many sites, I do focus primarily on just a few. I've built a solid network of friends and business associates around the globe with it!
