Someone mentioned today that it might not be a good idea to advertise a home that has been staged, as such. In other words, once the home is on the market, let it do it's thing.  Don't go telling the neighbourhood that it is staged.

Why? Because the feeling is that advertising a staged home could be an invitation to maybe " scooping out the home because there could be valuable things inside" or, "the house might be overpriced compared to the other houses on the block because it is staged".

 I thought it was a different and interesting thought process. Any comments?

I'm not sure I agree with that.  In the first place I'd think the owners would be advised to put their valuables away someplace safe.  If something comes up missing the lockbox would 'tell the tale' of who was in the home last.  And I as a Realtor would not think a home overpriced because it was 'staged', I'd think the homeowners and/or their agent were pretty savvy to have it don.  I'm giving some thought to having mine done.

Once a home is on the market let it do its thing. A staged home will get more attention (and likely a faster sale) than one with clutter and dirt. Have had people make negative comments if a property has a sign rider that says "staged". So best to let a home do its own thing.

I say put in the agent comments, but do not put it in the public comments. As an agent, I love stagged homes, they are much easier to sell. But, I don't want buyers to know that the reason this house looks perfect for them is they paid someone to look at it that way.

I think a staged home speaks for itself.  I agree that maybe in the agent comments is a good place.  I too prefer to show staged homes.  They just show much nicer than the average vacant or over cluttred home.

I can't imagine advertising that a home is staged.  It somehow sounds less than wholesome.  Great idea to stage, not so great to advertise it as such.

I wouldn't advertise it as a staged home. Let the buyers/agents see for themselves. Seems kind of odd to advertise it as staged.
