It appears that there won't be any problems between two of the biggest egos in the NBA getting along with each other this year.  At a recent scrimmage... LeBron and Shaq ended up clowning around... like they had been teammates for years.

There have been those who have wondered if there would be enough room on the Cav's team for the two mega-stars to co-exist... but that problem... at least for right now... appears non-existent.

Shaquille O'Neal (left) and LeBron James joke around during NBA basketball day on Saturday in Independence, Ohio.

The Cavaliers held an intra-team scrimmage in Akron... with Shaq's Gold team beating LBJ's Wine team 54 to 38.  The big guy played well, sinking 6 of his 8 shots... four of which were short jumpers rather than his patented Shaq-O-Matic slam dunk shots.  That was good to see.

Shaq appears to be in fantastic shape... getting up and down the floor with ease... playing tough defense, and looked very good running the Cav's low post offense.  James was James... looking great, but missing five of seven free throws.  He needs to fix that.

This is the second most important year in recent memory for the Cavs... with Shaq being in town for two major reasons.  The first... is obviously to win a championship.  The second, of course, is just another of the many efforts the Cav's ownership has put forth to show LeBron that they will do whatever they need to to get Lebron his Championship Ring... and, of course, to keep him in Cleveland.

Joan:  Shaq and LeBron getting along ?  Sure... they have recognized they have a common purpose... winning a title.  The Republicans will never even admit they should be coming out of their far-right edge... and working with the Democrats.  There IS no common goal.  The Republicans... all they seem to want is to make Obama look like a failure... paint him with a horrible paint-brush... hoping to gain seats in the November 2010 House and Senate elections... screaming "We Told Ya So, We Told Ya So !"

Steve:  I am hoping to get my poor aching body up to Cleveland this Fall... and hopefully be able to take in one of their games.  I have not seen them play since about 1978... so it's just been a little while... LOL.

Paul:  What kind words you share with me this morning.  And yeah, I AM well rounded.  I wish at times that weren't so... but I'm working on it.  Lost about 12 pounds... need to lose about eight times that much.

Writing and expressing my opinions... I am guessing that shows my life as a former teacher... but, then again, IS there such a thing as a FORMER teacher ?  Prolly not.  Have a great week, yourself.

Karen - Shaq still has a lot of basketball left in him. Should be a decent season for the Cavs.

Wow!  I didn't know Shaq was now playing for the Cavaliers. It should definitely be an interesting season for the Cavs. I hope they can keep Lebron.  Have you seen the house he had built??

Karen  There is no question these two are too professional to let egos overcome their goal - I respect them both very much for that attitude  Karen

I think what some people see as ego is more guys who just want to have fun, but the media sees as arrogance. They are under a lot of pressure to perform because of their past and these two both have the humor and understanding that it takes to help each other. I see them getting their ring this year if Portland doesn't take it. (We will fight with everything we have to get it)

Todd:  Just make sure your Blazers knock the Lakers out of the playoffs.  That's all I ask.  That's not too much for me to hope for, is it ?

Nishika:  Yeah... Shaq is a Cavalier now.  And... he is in great shape... physically.  And yes, I think if LeBron opts for the Big Apple... it just might be too much for the city of Cleveland to recover from.  There used to be such a thing as "team loyalty."  Now... so many players are just into "me loyalty."  Such a shame.  I mean... how much money can one guy spend ???

Karen:  I really think you're right.  Shaq and LeBron realize that if their own egos get out of control... it will only end up hurting both of them... and the team, in a major way.  I do NOT think that will be a problem for them this year.  Too bad... years ago... Kobe Bryant did not show the same degree of maturity for the Lakers when both he and Shaq were both on the team.  But then... that's the difference between Kobe and these two.

John:  From what I have seen of Shaq this year... he DOES have quite a bit left in his tank.  He seems to be coming into this season in excellent physical shape.  I am sure he knows... even more so now that he is older than he was in his "prime"... how much of a negative it is carrying around an extra twenty pounds all year long.  That alone will help his game... and his legs... so much.  Yes... I think they will have a great year this year.  Maybe this year will be the "big one" for them, and for Cleveland.  For them... I hope so.
