Well it's a long ways from really happening - but today; Two Senators, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and John  Cornyn (R-TX) -both agreed the

Home Buyer Tax credit is a good plan which should be extended to help lower the Home for Sale Inventory.

What - both sides of the Aisle agree with something?  Amazing!

Of course; as with all Politics - I am sure there will be much arguing and debate over this credit.  Will it be extended?  Maybe.  But you can never really trust any Politician to do exactly as planned - or hoped.

Time will tell weather or not the 1st Time Home Buyer Tax Credit will be changed; extended or allow to expire on November 30th.  But let's all hope so.  I'd say call your congressman and tell them how you feel.  Of course living in DC - I don't have a vote in Congress.. C'est la vie.

There seems to be an uptick in first time home buyer activity.  Methinks it does have something to do with the tax credit and the fact that the deadline to settle and get the credit is coming on strong.  However, there is at least one voice (in the media, of course) that doesn't think extending it is such a hot idea -- this article in today's Washington Post.

I love to sell houses and I would love it if the upward trend in home sales continues.  However, I also find myself in agreement with the premise of the article: extending the credit may not do much good.

Hey just call me a maverick.

I got a letter from Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) the other day and he states adamantly that he is in favor of extending the Tax Credit just in the same manner as we have it now.  So that's good!
