I've been a member of Active Rain since January, just wasn't active until one Saturday in March when I decided to check this site out a little closer and became addicted in a matter of 30 minutes (if it took that long).

My commenting (dancing in the rain) on other member's blogs has been a fun and educational experience.  I've met so many wonderful people but never expected to be MEME'd - thank you Jeff Belonger - here are 5 things that most of you don't know about mememe.

  • I was born and raised in Louisiana - yes, I'm a Cajun.  We have traced our ancestors to Canada and to France before that.  I love to invite friends over for dinner and prepare authentic Cajun food - I use our Family Recipes - see my recipe for Crawfish Etouffee in the Recipe Group and in the Suthurn Thangs Group.

  • I have lived in 10 states - Louisiana, New Jersey, Delaware, Massachusetts, Georgia, North Carolina, California, Arizona, Virginia and Texas - Massachusetts 3 times, and North Carolina 2 times.  Which was my favorite state?  Hmmm, they all were!

  • I have 3 wonderful, beautiful, intelligent and talented children.  Daniel was born in Hickory, NC the first time we lived there.  He and his fiancé, Catherine, are both majoring in Art at UTSA.  I also have beautiful identical twin daughters, Erin and Rebecca who were born in San Diego, CA.  Erin is a Biology major at the University of Texas at San Antonio but is considering moving to New Jersey and transferring to Rutgers University.  Rebecca has graduated from Texas A & M and is married, she and her husband, Brad, live and work in San Antonio.

Here's a picture of Zydeco!  Isn't he cute?!!

  • I live and work in San Antonio, TX.  My puppy, Zydeco, (Shih Tzu) sits in my lap while I read and comment (dance in the rain).  I have been a Real Estate Agent since October of 2000 and joined Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors in September of this year.  I specialize in Corporate and Military Relocation. I also love to work with First-Time Buyers.  I do have a special man in my life, his name is Don and he is employed at the Toyota Plant here in San Antonio.  We've known each other most of our lives but never dated until we went to a Class Reunion after we were both divorced - another one of those Class Reunion match-ups.

Now that you know a little about me, it's time to meet some other new Active Rain Members.  I'm tagging Yolanda Hoversten, Mike Mueller and Angie Vandenberg to write their MEME's.  Y'all just go here to read the rules.

Now for a lagniappe -- I've read and read and re-read Nick's step by step instructions...let's see if I can do this!

Judi... this was awesome. I not only got to listen to Rod Stewart some and watching his video while I ate lunch, but the song was still playing as I read your blog.

In regards to your blog.....  well done. I enjoyed this. So, when I am down your way, you can cook me a Cajun meal?  I was never big on this type of meal, but I am willing to try anything.

I already new about your great kids and the identical twins when we spoke last time.

Overall, this was very interesting. Thanks for sharing this and for the mention. And a great feed in regards to Nick M. and the video.

Jeff,

Thanks for the nice words.  I did put a lot of effort into this, I wanted to incorporate some of the things I've learned since I've been on Active Rain and give those who took the time to help us their much deserved credit.  In spite of it keeping me up late last nite (uuummm this morn) I really enjoyed doing it.  Don laughed at me and called me cuckooo!

I would love to have you over for dinner and prepare a Cajun meal when you're down here in San Antonio.  Not only that!  But I know where some of the best Mexican food in San Antonio is too!  No, not at my house, but I know which restaurants to go to.

06/19/2007 12:21 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Sounds great. Last time I actually had some real and good Mexican food was in Georgia. Don't laugh.... but ti was darn good...  ;o)

I seem to be popular this week! I was asked to write the next week in review and I got meme'd by you Judi. I will get to work. May be a few days before I can post my response. But I'll include a link here when I have it up. Thanks for thinking of me.

Interesting to read your meme. I have also lived a bunch of places.

06/19/2007 12:39 PM by A Crye-Leike Blogger, Angie Vandenbergh (Crye-Leike, Realtors)

Jeff, I love Mexican food.  There are so many excellent Mexican Food Restaurants here in San Antonio, it's difficult to decide which one to go to.

Angie, I was surprised to see that you hadn't been MEME'd yet, so I jumped at the opportunity.  Looking forward to reading your MEME.

06/19/2007 01:39 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Angie,

Read and commented on your MEME.  Nice to see a picture of you!  You're so pretty, you should post your picture instead of the logo.

06/19/2007 11:40 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Hello, Judi!

Thank you for sharing your interest and personal info with us.  You did a fantastic job on your meme, and with a little bit of something too!  You and Angie just jumped (danced?) into it.  I'll go over to Angie's next...!

06/20/2007 12:23 PM by Yolanda Hoversten - Metro East IL Real Estate (Prudential One Realty Centre)

Judi,

I guess you and Angie have something in common with all the states listed. Great meme. Your cooking sounds so unusual to me, I'm into steak and potatoes, spaghetti and meatballs and thats about it. I hear Southern girls are much better cooks than us Northerners:)

Judi:

You jam with the Rod Stewart! The little muffin is so cute. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us and I'm sure we'll hear more!

Yolanda,  Thanks for stopping by, I'm looking forward to reading you MEME.  Got an email from Mike this afternoon, he'll be writing his soon too.  ;)

Karen, We moved around the country a lot -- I believe there were 13 moves -- not including a few from apt. to house -- in Scottsdale, AZ, we bought a house, sold it, contracted a new home, moved into an apt. while it was being built and then moved into the new house -- so, if I add all of those plus a few more where we lived in an apt. while custom homes were being built -- aarggghhh, I don't even want to remember.  That's one reason I specialize in Relocation -- I know what the stress they're going thru.

WooHoo Sally,  Thanks for stopping by -- glad you liked my Rod Stewart (mini concert) -- I LOVE HIM!!!  Yep, I'll be sharing more -- think I've broken the ice now!

Donna, Figured it was time for everyone to get to know me -- I've been pretty quiet until now -- blame it on Jeff Belonger!  Feel free to listen to Rod anytime, courtesy of meme!

Hey, Judi!  Thanks for posting this to Suthurn Thangs, too.  I like this Meme thing, and at the risk of it sounding like braggin', I'm gonna do one real soon...I hope y'all don't mind an inspector intruding.  Speaking of inspections, Miss Angie, you don't know me, but I'm right down here below Memphis a little bit, and know some of your company's agents in Southaven, Hernando, and Olive Branch.  I wouldn't mind knowing some more up your way, if you catch my drift.  Is that too bald-faced?  Inappropriate?  I'm not listed in your company's info package, but I do good work, and I'm actually pretty smart.  I just write, look, and sometimes act dumb.

I'd like to invite all y'all over to the Suthurn Thangs group, where Miss Judi is doing her best to keep things livened up.  Leave a recipe, or a family tale or two, or just share a good memory.  It's an equal-opportunity group, so Yankees is welcome to come on in, set yer feet up on a stool and have a big glass of iced tea with us.

Jimmy, glad you didn't mind me posting my MEME to Suthurn Thangs -- after all I am a Suthurn Thang/err lady..hehehe

Ginger & Roger,

Thank you taking the time to stop by and thanks for the compliment.  I had a difficult time figuring out how to embed the music video and felt so proud when it finally worked...thanks to Nick M's post.  :)

Hello, Judi!

I finally did it...here's Memes the Word.  Okay, what else am I supposed to do?  I went and posted on Lucky Lang's List, and here.  Is there any place else?

Thanks again!

07/03/2007 03:12 AM by Yolanda Hoversten - Metro East IL Real Estate (Prudential One Realty Centre)

Judi,

I liked your meme too.  It shows personality, and you really put a lot of thought into it.  I love food and I do not care where it is from, I am looking forward to trying some Cajun food but I do not know where to get it here.

07/03/2007 08:40 AM by Carmen Rivero Celebration & Kissimmee Real Estate (La Rosa Realty, LLC)

Yolanda,  I just read your MEME -- it's great.  You've lived in lots of places too.  Don't forget to post it in Sarah Cooper's MEME Group.

07/03/2007 01:26 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Carmen,  Thanks so much for stopping by and the nice comments.

No, Cajun restaurants in Kissimmee?  It's actually easy to cook your own.  Most ingredients are in the grocery store.  Many carry the Cajun or Creole seasonings too.  Just let me know what you'd like to try and I'll send over a recipe.  ;)

Ginger,

Thanks so much for the invitation.  I didn't realize there was a group for dog lovers.  I've joined now.

Judi,

Are you out of the doghouse, yet?  I love your meez--it's apropos.

OK, I'm serious now--I hope you get back soon.  Meanwhile, enjoy your freedom.  : ) Sweet smile.

07/15/2007 01:01 AM by Yolanda Hoversten - Metro East IL Real Estate (Prudential One Realty Centre)

Yolanda,

LOL, no, I guess I'm still in the doghouse!  :(   I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow!  hehehe  then I'll make up for lost time!!!

Actually, what happened this afternoon kinda fit in with the rest of my week and considering my past week, my meez is very appropriate!!!  I was thinking about changing it but I think I'll wait another day or 2.  lol

07/15/2007 01:43 AM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Hi Judi,
It is nice to read the MeMes and learn more about our AR friends.  I do not know anyone from Hickory that I can think of but I'm still working on who you remind me of.  This happens to me with lots of people, then one day the answer will hit me out of the blue.

07/18/2007 08:10 AM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Cynthia, Thanks for stopping by my MEME.  I had a lot of fun writing it -- I still think of things that I could have included but since we're only required to tell about 5 things, I'll share the rest as I continue my journey through Active Rain.

Hmmm, I'm sure you'll figure out who I remind you of -- I hope they're nice!!!   :)

Hi Mike, Thanks for stopping by to read my MEME.  Ahhh, so you're a Rod Stewart fan too.  Glad you enjoyed the "lan-yap".  By the way, I lived in Arizona for 7 years and loved it -- still do.  I lived in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.  Haven't been there in much too long and would love to go back for a visit.

Judi:  Nice to meet you!  Your meme is great and Zydeco is very cute.  That's an interesting name, how did you come up with it?  I joined active rain around January too, but I didn't actually start using it until June and talk about becoming addictive!!!  It doesn't take long does it?

09/02/2007 07:07 AM by Donna Yates, Georgia Realtor North Georgia Blue Ridge Real Estate (Mountain Investments of North Georgia)

Hi Donna, nice to meet you too.  Yes, it's very addictive, I kept thinking about it and would logon look around, read a little and logout.  Finally, I had a free Saturday and decided to look around again -- that did it, I was hooked.

Zydeco is a cutey -- everyone loves him.  He's very affectionate and is truly a lap dog.  I had a list of names for him before I got him and at the bottom of the list was Zydeco.  My boyfriend and I were talking about names for him and I told him the names on my list and asked if he had a list -- Zydeco was also on his list but I wasn't ready to commit to Zydeco.  Then, the following week, he was talking to the breeder and the breeder was giving Don an update on the puppies.  He mentioned that his kids had named "my puppy" Ziggy because he has a "Z" marking on his back!  Well, Don called me and told me about the name and the "Z" on his back so that settled it, we decided to name him Zydeco.   Zydeco is a type of music (like Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll, Cajun) from Louisiana.  In fact, it's a combination of all those types of music -- Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll & Cajun.  Just seemed to be the right fit.  And there aren't any other puppies/dogs named Zydeco!!!  We usually call him Zydie.

Thanks for stopping by.

09/02/2007 01:32 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

My girlfriend thought it was really cute that you named your dog "Zydeco."

09/04/2007 03:52 AM by Joshua Lazaro, serving New Orleans and the Greater New Orleans Area!!! (Prudential Gardner, Realtors)

Josh, thanks for stopping by.  One of my favorite musicians from Louisiana is Wayne Toups (from Crowley & Lake Charles).  I love his version of Zydeco music.  Hadn't really planned to call my puppy Zydeco.  We each made a list of names for him, and funny thing was, Zydeco was at the bottom of both lists.  Then the breeder told my boyfriend that the puppy we had picked out had a "Z" shaped marking on his back and that the breeders kids had named him Ziggy.  We decided with the "Z" marking on his back and the previous Ziggy name his name had to be "Zydeco".  Actually, the name fits him perfectly!

Hey Judi, it as great getting to know about you.  She loves to cook and Rod Stewart, and that caught me right away, my kind of gal.

I have lived all around too (military) but always knew I'd come back home to NYC.  I hope you have a great weekend and kiss Zydeco on the nose for me. (too cute)

Hey Maureen, too bad you didn't get to go.  We had one the end of Sept. but we had to go to a friend's wedding on the day of the festival so we missed it.  You know my little dog's name is Zydeco.  lol  Next time you come to Texas, I hope we can get together.
