TRY, The Real You

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

I have recently read Gary Keller's book "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent" and found it very helpful.  There is an short part in one chapter titled "The Real You".  It is an acronym for the word TRY.

In my last blog post, Live Life Once, Live It to the Fullest, I said to try and fail is not to fail, but failure is failing to try.  Right after I wrote that post I came upon a chapter in the book talking about trying.  With the analogy of TRY equals THE REAL YOU, I had to spend time pondering this statement.  I asked myself many questions and mentally reviewed occurrences in my life to see if what the book was saying had any merit.

I do believe it does.  The book said many people never experience the real you because they are afraid to try.  Fear is the number one enemy of the human endeavor.  It is only when we break free of our fears that we can really accomplish great things.  I have in recent years released my fears and gone forth in a way with my business I would have never tried before.  The results have been amazing.

It took me years to decide that I had nothing to lose by trying but everything to gain. It took a commitment, dedication and focus I did not have previously.  It took knowledge, confidence which came because of the knowledge I had gained, it took support of people I highly respected.  Put all these things together and then add the action of TRYing and there will be no holding you back.

Let the world see who THE REAL YOU is.

That book is a great read with a ton of practicle business building ideas.  So Ricki - when will Keller Williams have the pleasure of a adding a dynamic agent like you?;)

Hi Syreeta,  Keller Williams is a good company but I am building my own company and will not be joining them.  Hopefully, some of their dynamic agents will be joining me. :)

Ricki-I suppose I should dust my copy off and actually read it, although my attitude is "do" more than it is "try".  Maybe it's just semantics, but "try" always sounded like you were setting yourself up for failure while "do" at least in my mind is right for me...just semantics I think.  What ever gets you going is a positive thing.

Nice post, Ricki. I worked with a Keller Williams office for a couple of years, and they are indeed a good company and Gary Keller writes good books. But I still prefer being an independent broker. Learn what you can and apply it to your own business.

Cheers,

Robin

Hi Nick,  Yes, do is a great word.  Whatever you need to get you going is the word for you.

Hi Robin,   Good to hear from you.  I feel the same way.  I am building my own business and that is what will work best for me and my area.  Have a great Sunday!

"Shift " is a great book and  for the times.  I owned my own company as an independent for almost 20 years and was very successful.  Good Luck..

Hi AJ,   I will get the book.  I read your profile and am very impressed.  You have accomplished a lot in your business and for you to change companies is saying a lot for Keller Williams.

Ricki,

Another inspiring post.  I encourage you to continue on your own.  I think it is wonderful and as a true independent building your business there are tremendous opportunities for growth and wealth.

Ricki - I've heard of the book, but havent read it. Seeing as I'm not a Real Estate Agent, I may not have a need to read it. But who knows... there could certainly be some things in there worth reading that pertain to me directly.

Thanks Melissa,  That is true.  I love doing this independently.  I was with Coldwell Banker before and I owned a C-21 so independent is the way for me.

Hi John,  There are lots of good thoughts in this book for anyone that wants to become the best they can be.  The jest of the book is "Think Big, Aim High".  That would certainly fit you and your business.

Hi Ricki... The MREA Book is an outstanding read for anyone in our industry.  You do not have to be a Keller Williams agent to reap the benefits of Gary Keller's guidance which it contains.  As a former KW Agent I will always carry those lessons with me as I build and run my business.

Great advice, Ricki.  If there is anything that I can't stand, it's a FAKE!  Fake people are like Saran Wrap... you can see straight thru them!  I totally agree with your post.

Hi Steve,   It is a great book, thoroughly enjoyed it.  I learned a lot and reinforced other ideas and systems I am already using.  More knowledge is always good.

Hi Janice,   I remember that saying, "Just do it! "

Thanks Celina,   Fakes are so easy to detect and the only people they fool are themselves. Have a great day!
