If you love music, and you love Los Angeles, yesterday was a remarkable experience:

Gustavo Dudamel's first appearance as the new conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Hollywood Bowl.Hollywood Bowl

28 years old and already acclaimed as one of the most exciting conductors of our time, Los Angeles was lucky to get him. 

The attendance was 18,000, and in honor of his arrival, absolutely FREE!

and John Williams.

Dudamel chose Beethoven's 9th, primarily because of its emphasis on universal brotherhood and his aim to join people together.  In his speech at the end of the symphony he talked about being proud of being a South American, but also proud of being an American, and that there should be one America.

The reviews were great, and it was truly a one-time experience to see this man put so much passion into what he does.

He had 4 curtain calls at then end of which he played the last 5 minutes of the symphony again accompanied by fireworks. 

As one critic said, "It felt like the greatest show on earth."
