The Fall Colors in Red Lodge - Yellow, Orange, Red, Green... and White? Where Did Fall Go?

The photos below were all taken in a period of ONE WEEK.

Fall started on September 21st but did not last long enough to enjoy the beautiful colors.

Luckily, I was able to capture some of the nice Fall colors.  We went straight from Summer to Fater (FAll mixed with WinTER).

It's Fater in Red Lodge!   Drive carefully and stay warm!

I will be chilling and watching the fire dance in my pellet stove at home.

What beautiful pictures.  We've skipped fall here.

Kryste,

According to Mother Nature and the photos I have taken above, Fall 2009 lasted less than 10 days in Red Lodge.   Thank you for the positive feedback.

I have a cousin in Montana, loves it, I see why.  Although I prefer the south, I was out golfing today.

Linda,

I believe Mother Nature decided that it was time to switch from golf season to skiiing season in Red Lodge.   I hope you had a fun golf outing.   Where does your cousin live in Montana?  I am glad you saw part of what he must love by living in Montana.

Hi Gerry ~ Couldn't believe my eyes when I got to the last photo.  Do you think this is the first snow photo of the season on AR?

Gerry, I am glad that it was you that got the snow and not us, it is still too early for that!  Beautiful colors and photos!

Gerry - Fall has started in Toronto but has not yet progressed very far.  I need to look at Ontario Tourism's fall colours leaf / drive report, which they issue twice a week, during fall leaf season to see how the province is coming along.  I use it to determine which direction to point the car that day.

Just beautiful Gerry! I wanted to get to Glacier National Park this month for some photos but if it's snowing already, not a good idea...
Without Mondays, the rest of the week wouldn't look so good,
Paul

Liz,

This is likely one amongst the first snow photos on AR but not the first.  Judging by a recent post from Kriste Adams (see first comment), it looks like Bend, Oregon may have had the first snow photo of the season on AR.  I am glad I captured the colors while I had the chance.  The window of opportunity to capture the Fall colors was fairly small compared to other parts of the country.

Tony and Darcy,

Thank you.  It was too early here too but than again Mother Nature is becoming more and more unpredictable when it comes to the weather.  Make sure you enjoy the Fall colors in UT before the snow makes its way to your area.

Debra,

Nice to see you again here on AR.  It was beautiful while it lasted is also my point of view.  Thanks for the feedback.

Marc.

So Ontario Tourism Fall colors paints a good picture of Ontario and were the bright colors are.   I am hoping you will go on a little expedition, point the car towards the direction suggested by the latest drive report and capture some of the Fall colors in your area.

Paul,

Thank you.  I was hoping to make it to the Grand Tetons but that will also have to wait.  I love the quote you signed off with.

Happy Fater Gerry!  Your photos are just gorgeous, and I saw the same thing happen here - it seems we were golden one day and then swoosh - a lot of the color was gone and it turned cold.  I'm hoping for more Indian summer - soon.

Thanks for the great photos of Red Lodge!  Fall is beautiful...wish it did not follow with cold.

Mary,

I am with you with regards to more Indian Summer!  After yesterday's snow fall, the sun came out today to highlight the white scenery and I was able to spot a Moose!

Carol,

You are welcome.  Luckily, no cold to report yet.  Only beautiful white and powdery scenery.   The sun came back to provide some warmth and the snow is falling off from the roof of the houses.

Now you've done gone and made me all cold again. The temperatures in your blog are about as consistent as the weatherman's forecast here. LOL

Russel,

I enjoyed your funny comments and the photo of the jester.  Did you know that is the name of my youngest dog?   Thank you for the chuckle!  I got a warmer photo (a nice sunrise with milder temperature and with some green grass) in today's (October 16, 2009) post.  :)
