Pardee-Morris House - A Morris Cove Historic Treasure

It was a wonderful day for the Pardee-Morris House in Morris Cove New Haven CT.  The public open house which was scheduled for September 27th was rained out and rescheduled for today.

Pardee Morris House

Since 2000 the Pardee-Morris House has been closed to the public due to lack of funds but restoration work has been ongoing for the past few months so it could be opened again on a limited basis.

Due to a some prior commitments already made for today, I was unable to get to the open house until about 3:45 giving me only a few minutes to get inside to take some photos of the interior.  There is still quite a bit of work to be done to fully restore this historic treasure but what a sense of history you could feel walking through the areas of the Pardee-Morris House which were available to be seen.

Donna, I hope more people pitch in and help restore Pardee-Morris House.  These buildings are treasures and should be taken care of to preserve them.

Donna ~ I'm glad you took lots of pictures of this neat old home.  It needs some love, doesn't it?  Keep us updated about progress on the restoration.

Donna they did a great job on the rooms that they have re-done. How much longer before that have the whole place restored?

Carole - There has been wonderful participation from the community to help with the restoration process. It will be so wonderful when the work is finally all completed and the Pardee-Morris House is brought back to life again.

Ann - I was so glad too.  I got there just in the knick of time to get inside.  The exterior has gotten the majority of the repairs and the contractors are working their way inside to work restoring each individual room.  I had limited access to the rooms downstairs and the upstairs was taped off completely until they more work is done.

George - It was so wonderful to see what has been done so far.  There's still a real lot of work to be done in the restoration.  I'm not sure how long it's going to be before it's all completed but I'll find out for sure.

Quite an interesting house. I hope they are successful in restoring it. Looks like the fireplace needs some significant work. I also found an interesting article from the New Haven Register about the State forcing the Museum to do upkeep, dated September 21, 2009: http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2009/09/21/news/a3-neagpardee.txt. That probably explains the recent work.
