My owner is a marketing & business consultant in San Diego. One of my Clients has a husband who is, in her own words, "as persnickety as some of my customers."

She is, in my mind, lucky, lucky, lucky.

As I regularly tell my own Clients, never leave anything to chance if you can exercise some control over it. This is what her husband is doing, not leaving anything to chance.

To go along with this, we can learn from some of the oh-so-obvious instructions on things we buy, such as "Open before eating" printed plainly on a plastic food wrapper. What is happening is that companies are using their product, services, printer materials, web sites -- everything -- just like an uninformed customer might. They can exercise some control over things, so they do, even though the great majority of us find some of the statements incredulous. It is interesting sometimes just how much an uninformed person can mess something up or using it wrongly.

Learn to think like your prospects, even practicing if you have to. If you can't do that, perhaps someone close to you can. You just might be surprised by something that isn't obvious to you.

Obviously those who can think like their clients can master sales.  Those who can't won't.  Obviously.. a lot of people need to hear this....and unfortunately.  Thanks R.

Great advice.  If we can't think like our customers, then we have no idea what they are expecting form our services and will like find someone else.

This is why I believe a good Realtor should move every couple of years...  then we won't forget the process - good AND bad!

Hi Russell: Good advice: Every once in a while I try to run through my procedures and realize what it is like to be on the other side of the coin.

Hey, Andrea - I was reading one a few weeks ago that had steps:

  1. Keep frozen.
  2. Heat before eating.
  3. Remove wrapper before heating.
  4. Do not eat wrapper.

It was funny.

Hey, Sally and David - Some people not only need a Plan B, but they also need a Plan A. It's amazing how many people operating a company, or try to, without a business plan.

Hey, Larry - Some people think that just because they exist, people will be beating a path to their door. Doesn't work like that.

Hey, Theodore - True. If you want to see them go elsewhere, offer them what they don't need or want.

Hey, Lee and Pamela - Interesting suggestion. I suspect that moving every couple of years just might make you feel young and aggressive.

Hey, Matt - I bet it helps, too.
