Wow, Trey.  They are beautiful!  How in the world did you get this picture?  Deer in Texas must not spook as easily as deer in Missouri.  :)

These are on a game ranch near where we live. They are not native and my guess is before being placed on the ranch they were fed in small pens somewhere else.. The will run if you get out of the car.

Howdy there Trey

Thats a mighty fine photo, they look like Visayan Spotted Deer, at that game ranch near you. Is it a hunting ranch?

I sure do hope its not.

Trey isn't it great to live in Texas. They look like Axis deer, native from India, imported into the state by the YO Ranch. Pretty common in the Texas Hill Country.

Trey:  I feel sad hearing that they are on a game farm.  Very pretty creatures, but to be brought there only to be killed makes no sense to me.

Trey - Those are a very interesting type of deer. . .They are much larger than those we have here in California.  And we don't see spots on any but fawns here.  Nice photo!

They are beautiful but the herds have to be managed.

Myrl

They are not native.

Hi, Trey:

More spotted deer like the ones Ricki photographed recently. I'm confused, are they native to Texas or not? I never saw them before.

Cheers,

Robin

Trey, we have a rails-to-trails in Landisville PA with a game farm along the way that looks quite similar!

Hi Trey, This is a great photo of these beautiful deer.  I think I have seem them on game ranches elsewhere in Texas, maybe at the YO.

Deer in Texas. Like no other place in the world, game ranch or not.

Sure wish I could have been in College Station last Friday for the Bush/Obama event.
