Fair Weather, Don't Ask the Weatherman

In Minnesota we love to talk about our climate.  I am not talking about the seasonal stuff, I am referring to sports. Our sports' climate is very fair weather.

We had a new stadium built for the University of Minnesota and we were prepared for a team that took us to the Rose Bowl.  We got fired up.  We wore the gold colors and packed the seats, and the team did not win.  All the excitement we held for the stadium and this team is gone.  Minnesota people, take an example from the Badgers.  They do not always have a winning team, but they love that team.  They stay for their 5th quarter in all kinds of weather and never complain.  Is it the beer?

Do you know we have a baseball team, The Twins?  All of a sudden 50,000+ people became raging fans and came to the game.  Was it to cheer the Twins to their tying position. or was it to say they had been at the Dome for the last official Twin's game?

People who don't know baseball are now fans.  Where were they after the All Star Game when the Twins could not get their game together?  Tuesday we will once again be loyal fans as they play Detroit for the title.

Tonight anyone with a Minnesota address will be glued to the TV as they watch the Packers and Vikings go  at it.  The belief that #4 can take on his old team and win is real.  Tuesday morning let's hope we can still love those guys even if we don't get the big W.

The wind blows favorably when our teams win.  It is a cold wind when we don't win.  How about if we love the sport and just appreciate what they try to do.  Oh, I forgot that is our attitude for kid's games.  Even then the wind can blow cold for parents and kids.
