This was sent to me from my Broker.. and I thought I would pass it along.  If we all do our part, I'm sure we will make an impact.

a.k.a.  'Buy American'

Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace
Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there .

They were made in the USA....start looking... start paying attention.

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job . So, after reading this email, let's all start to do our part.

My son Jakob loves Hersey Bars... did you know that they are marked "Made in Mexico"?. I do not buy it any more . My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico now .   I have switched to Crest . You have to
read the labels on everything ..

This past weekend I was at our local supermarket. I needed 60W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled, "Everyday Value .. " I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price . The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio .

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here .

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets . . .. yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at
almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

(We, as a country should have started realizing this over a decade ago . . . . . . )

Let's get with the program . . . . help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U S A .

Hi Valerie: This is great advice - if we are going to fix this we all have to do our part!

Matt.. What is that saying?  Charity starts at home?  We need to keep things here in this country.. before there is NO MORE HERE.

George.. This is why we need to read labels.... and not just for calories and fat content.  Oh yea, read.. that is a lost art... every one only knows how to text... Don't get me started on that one.

Valerie, I have been trying to at least avoid China, and it isn't easy.  I did manage to find socks made in the USA last week, and it took a little effort.  And you're right about reading labels - even Whole Foods was importing frozen "organic" California Mix from, yes, China.  I think they stopped after someone busted them.

It's like the story of a little drip becoming a little flow, ultimately becoming a raging stream. I can recall years ago calling on the automotive people in Michigan, and the visitors parking spaces wee marker for American Made cars only, vistors with foreign cars were to park at designated spaces at the rear of a very large lot.

Patricia.. We (as a country) are too gullible.  We see packaging and assume what is printed on the package is the truth.  Like you mentioned... "Organic California Mix".  But when checked closer it came from China.  We can't always believe what we initially see.

Ed.. Doesn't it make you wonder if we have made *any* progress over the years?  Do we take one step forward for two steps back?

Thanks for sharing.
