BIG SOUTH FORK TENNESSEE: Ladies Who Lunch

By
Real Estate Agent with Tennessee Recreational Properties

Trail Riders Enjoying a Lunch Break On This Scenic FootbridgeBecause I mainly list and sell horse properties near the Big South Fork National Park in Jamestown, Tennessee, I ride with a variety of "horse ladies" and we usually bring LUNCH! The scenery is breathtaking and there are many beautiful places to stop and eat.

There are hitching rails throughout the park where you can tie your horses and take a lunch break before continuing on. This wooden bridge is one of our favorites. Our horses wade across the stream but this is an intersection of hiking trails so the footbridge is used to get hikers from one side to the other.

Lunching with the ladies is good "ear to the ground" time for me in terms of real estate and it's an easy way to do some networking. Hopefully, we'll have worked off the calories on the second half of the ride!

Tennessee is very appealing to retirees for a variety of reasons and interestingly, in the group of five riders on this particular day, FOUR were over the age of 60. In fact, half of those were over 65! (No, don't even ASK!)

Hi Leslie~ How wonderful that you get to combine your love of horses with your job.  It sounds like you have a great "niche!"

Hey. Thanks for commenting. One of the women eating lunch on the bridge is from Owensboro KY; her name is Pam Dawson. Her husband, Charlie, has been a tobacco farmer there for years. They have a cabin here and she spends alot of time ridng in Big South Fork.

It really seems like you have found your corner of the world and made it your own!  I love the picture you paint of your life through your blog.  The only thing I have to compare this to is when my husband and I pack a lunch and take the Harley for an adventure, not knowing where our picnic will take place until we end up there.

Sharon, I hope you took that Harley up the Kancamagus recently. There's nothing like leaf season in New England!! The colors here have been the best yet, probably because of ALL the rain. (As we speak, it's raining with a solid week of rain in the forecast! I have two bored horses, two bored dogs and three happy Siamese cats).

No, I haven't done the Kancamagus.  Up until recently it was too far of a ride for me.  We traded up to a Road King this week and it rides much smoother so maybe next year I will up for the ride.
