Quote of the day ~ sign 3 miles into the Grand Canyon

On our recent trip to the grand canyon, as we were passing the rest area at the 3 mile mark we found the sign bellow.

Getting to the bottom OPTIONAL

Getting to the top Mandatory.

Possibly the most appropriate sign I have ever seen anytime anywhere.

Ahhh the Grand Canyon. What a great sign--and reminder!!! :)

Very funny. We love the canyon- try to go at least every couple of years.

Great sign. I hiked it when I was 14. One of the other scouts had to be flown out in a helicopter because he was playing around and broke his arm. Luckily we were already at the bottom.

Pretty profound lesson in there. I've spent time in both places and I prefer the top. No shame in being at the bottom, so long as you don't intend to remain there.
