Florida Governor Charlie Crist has refused to face the voters. Specifically the Republican voters who get to choose between him and former Speaker Marco Rubio at the Senate Primary next year.

Let me explain. Last time I was filling in for Bud Hedinger on 540 WFLA, Speaker Rubio was a guest on the show. At the end of that interview I challenged the Speaker to come back to 540 WITH the Governor for a special program - some might call it debate - and take questions posed by the listeners. The Speaker agreed immediately.

I then contacted my boss on the station and told him what I'd done! Luckily we have a great boss and he told me that if I could put it together then we would run a two hour special show during afternoon drive time.

All I needed now was the Governor to agree.

I could not envisage that he would not want to answer questions from the very people in the I4 Corridor who will likely elect him to the US Senate. And so I called his Political Director. In fact I had to call his Political Director a total of four times before I was given the courtesy of a call back. He was very nice on the phone and told me to put my request in writing - which I did.

One week passed and no response, so I nudged him. I was told an answer would be forthcoming "very soon".Another week passed and no e-mail.

I nudged again and this time I received a reply which said that the Governor would have to decline, but that they would be back in touch. I asked for a confirmation. You see I wasn't looking for a date - just a commitment to do the show at any time between now and the Primary. Surely the Governor could fit that in to his busy schedule? My clarification came and the Governor again declined.

CALL TO ACTION

Personally I find it disgraceful that the Governor of Florida is refusing to take questions from the people of Florida. Let me also make it clear - I have not endorsed any candidate for this race.So what do we do now?

I think we try and embarrass the Governor into coming on the air. That's right. All of you need to write to the Governor and demand (remember - he works for YOU) that he change his mind and agree to do the show with Speaker Rubio and myself. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, with YOU - the voters of the State.

You can contact Governor Crist as follows:

CALL: (850) 488-7146

LET'S REMIND HIM EXACTLY WHO HE WORKS FOR!

It would be my pleasure to write Gov. Crist and ask him to go on the air and answer some questions, Simon.

How can he say he is busy, but get back to you, and then decline. Sounds like a liberal to me.

What he essentially said Nick, was that he doesn't have two hours in the next 10 months to answer questions directly from the people of Florida. Disgraceful!!

Simon- Rubio is the man, it is a no brainer. Crist is a RHINO- he is wimpy and has no spine, drools when Obama talks to him and he wants nothing more than to have a long career in the senate replacing the turncoat Mel Martinez, another spineless senator. At least Marc has stood for something and has been against the TARP and bailouts unlike Crist who happily took his share, hmmm, I wonder what his payback is to those that gave, he that giveth...  I just want someone who will stand on principles and do what is right whether it is popular or not. The patronizing for votes makes me sick.

Simon....no one else has gotten Mr.Christ out of the closet, I hope you are successful. I think the voters of Florida should have the opportunity to see him as he is and what he stands for.

I remember Rubio interviewed by Bud and saying he was for Amnesty, then recanted a month later after all the complaints.

Hedinger has been against Crist since the property taxes were lowered. Why I'll never know, but he ran on that and did it. I haven't seen state government grow and happy with his job. Some can't stand he actually gave respect to the President. Some don't like he took stimulous money, even South Carolina and Texas did after saying they wouldn't. Then realized, it was going somewhere. I'm happy that some came to our state if I'm paying for it.

Heddinger's program has always put down Crist. Why would he want to come on to it? Sounds like cry-babies not getting what they want.

Then again Heddinger interviewed Alan Grayson a few times. Ric Keller didn't want to be interviewed and Bud trashed Keller the rest of the time until the election. Because, sniff, he didn't get an interview with Ric. He is a BIG reason why Grayson won to begin with. Congrats Bud on helping the liberals like Grayson & Rubio.

I'll NEVER vote for Rubio for this one reason. I'm not letting a talk show host try to sway opinion, and most likely getting some money on the side. All I know is Rubio is for amnesty (but took it back after the complaints) Crist lowered taxes and did not enlarge the state government. That's enough for me.

As for the whiners not getting an interview from someone they put down all the time, really look into the issues before you screw up another election for us.
