A New York Feng Shui Renovation in Long Island New York

Renovations are NEVER fun.  They disrupt our lives and disturb the Energy in our Homes and Businesses and yet, they’re a necessary part of moving along and expanding.

These clients called me in for a Feng Shui Consultation AFTER they had begun Renovations in their once lovely Long Island home in Merrick.  Here, the renovations were put on hold as the husband had lost his job.

Many Feng Shui Consultants believe that we have so many problems with Renovations, not only in New York but all over is because the Energy has to move too rapidly.  We usually recommend to our clients that if they are thinking of having extensive renovations in their home or business to do a Space Clearing.

Many of our Feng Shui Clients prefer the beautiful Blessings Feng Shui Consultants can provide---with the Intention that  all goes well and smoothly (And under budget!) during a time when there might possibly be some disruption to our homes because of the fast moving Energy.

Renovations are also a good time to see if your new floor plans will help to enhance the Feng Shui in a home.  As a New York Feng Shui Consultant I am often asked to review floor plans of what my clients intend to create.  I often work with architects and builders as well, upon my clients request.

Changing YOUR home might be a good time for a “Feng Shui Check-up.”

Carole, I never thought of doing a space clearing before a renovation. Good idea! And obviously consulting a feng shui consultant to review the new floor plans is a great suggestion.

Carole, I believe removing things and freeing up space in a home is always a good thing, and gives positive attitude and also gives off happiness. And space clearing before a renovation, I would actually think that would make sense. But I guess it's easier to just move things around, now that I come to think of it...  and I am sure it was hard for this family, since one lost their job. But I am sure you did a great job to make them happy, even if it was affordable.  ;o)

Annie, It really does help.  When we move the Energy that quickly, it can create a bit of temporary chaos.  It's a wonderful way to help offset that and ensure things will go well.  This family is doing MUCH better!   He has a new job he loves and the house is almost done.

Kate, It's a great way to begin before you do a renovation.  You're stirring us so much so quickly!  Space clearings really do help.

Jeff, I am thrilled for this family now.  They are doing so much better instead of being stuck in the middle of renovations.  He found a wonderful new job and their home is looking wornderful!  I have seen people 'stuck' after they started one and it's something we try to offset before it even happens.

Renovations.  That's like the dirtiest word I know.  I went through a major one recently, and I'm still not over it.  The job still isn't finished, and things still aren't in their place, and although I've tried to put it behind me, there's something that reminds me of it every day and makes me angry.

There must be a better way.

A space clearing is not something I ever thought of.....
My Mom told me a couple of days ago that someone must have given me the evil eye ....

I had to laugh out loud, since she's not the first one to say that, and since we've already discussed it here ... it was funny at the time, but sometimes one wonders. :)

I'm glad your clients are doing better.  They must be thrilled with you (of course). :)

Once again, I've learned so much from reading your blog.

I seriously think you should consider writing a book.

As a former English tutor, I'd love to help you compile and edit it...and then go on the book signing tour with you!!!

Once again, my friend, you have opened my eyes to the extended worth of Feng Shui.  I would have never thought of a clearing before renovations, but it makes total sense.

Thanks for the continued education!  Hope all is well!

hi Carole,

What an excellent idea to consult a feng shui consultant before beginning a renovation....I know how draining renovations can be and they seem to drag on and on.

It's nice to hear that they are now proceeding with their plans and things are going well again.

We make sure to do a cleaning and clearing of our townhouse often. Not much room so clutter is not an option :)

Carole, Is this the same area in both photos?  If so, what a transformation!

I hope their renovation goes smoothly. Having lived in a "fixer-upper" and fixing it up while trying to live in the home, I can relate. It can be stressful living in a home while it's in such a disarray but is so nice when it's finished.

Carole - I can't get over the change between those two photos.  I love reading your post.  They are so full of information about all of the processess associated with Feng Shui.

Sylvie, I'm so sorry you've had such a bad time with your renovations.  There's a lot that can go wrong (which is why we do the Blessings) and I hope you get everything rectified and put back together again.  Once they are finally over, I hope you love it and think it was worth all that you had to go through.

Craig, You'd have to fix all my grammar, can you imagine what a HUGE job that would be??  :)   I have thought of it on and off but I'm so busy right now.  I'll know who to call, however!

Hi Carol, I am so glad you're back and hope that the move is finished?  I can't even imagine how tired you must be.  Thank you for your kind words--People often don't think of blessings before renovations.

Jo, I'm so glad they are finally doing well.  It was a long, painful process for them with the job loss right in the middle of it.

Sally, Good for you and I'm sure it helps!  Since the flood I have kept things to a minimum and I love it that way!

Judi, One is one side of the room (with the tv) and the other has a red brick fireplace.  It's a big, open space that is being made into one huge room but separate areas.  They are both the way they were when they called me in, the walls weren't up yet.  I am going back shortly and will post the "after" shots.

Monica, It can be so nice when everyone is done and you have your house put back together!  I had work done on one part or another of my home for almost two years, it's so nice to have quiet again!

carole- space clearing is such a good thing. I find myself doing it quite often (besides I cant stand chaos :0) and it makes total sense if you are planning a renovation. You have reminded me that I really need to take a hard look to make sure my space clearing did not cause problems instead of good things when it comes to feng shui.

Donna, There are so many levels to Feng Shui...it's a never ending learning process and always amazing to me, too.

Martha, Just don't do them at night...They should be done when the Sun is at it's highest point, bet. 11 am and 1 pm. It's not a good idea to bless at night.

Rosa, Thank you and I was thrilled to read about your listing in Staten Island flying off the market :)!
