Governor Mark Sanford seems to be exempt from morals and now he is able to have his security detail do 85 miles per hour on a SC state highway that the maximum speed limit is 70 miles per hour.

This puts the lives of our state travelers and the citizens of South Carolina in danger with no consequences. I'm tired of our political figures thinking they are ABOVE the law. A ticket should have been issued because if this was me I would have gotten a ticket.

You can see the video of the officer shaking his hand here.

"South Carolina can be highways or Dieways The choice is yours" the Governor's campain

So why didn't the Trooper issue a citation? We really want to know!

Hi Laura~ There was no ticket given because the politicians think they are above the law.  Besides that, they just make the laws, why should they have to follow them....

Come on Laura, you must be dreaming or something.  Don't you know that "laws" are only for us little people to follow!!!

If it were up to me he would have gotten a double fine.

I can speak from first hand experience about my brother-in-law in Missouri, Laura.  He was a state representative for a couple of terms and his sons even got preferential treatment for speeding.  No tickets issued, well wishes for their dad.

Our elected officials need, above all, to set the highest standards.  We decide to return them to office or not-if we care to get involved.  Thanks for the post.

At least no one has commented about us smiling blondes getting out of a speeding ticket !!!!!!!!!!!!! (Shhhhhhhh!)

You know when it comes to politicians that their policy is do as I say not as I do. What kind of world would we live in if our public figure held themselves to the same standard that they hold us.

I think the applicable phrase is "justice for me, not for thee."

Laura, I agree that this type of action always upsets me.  I hope that his opponent will remind voters that he is setting himself above them when he next runs for office.  And I hope that voters will take the time to vote against this type of behavior.
