On September 24, 2009 I posted a blog about Mortgage Rates and why they will start increasing in the very near future. In that blog I stated that the deficit was predicted to be somewhere from $1 Trillion to $1.5 Trillion.

I did a little research and I think I have this correct now. what does $1.4 trillion look like...$1,400,000,000,000. Wow....break it down to things I understand. If you took the National Debt of $1.4 Trillion and made a stack of $1 bills that stack would be about 630,000 miles, give or take 100 miles in either direction. How far is that, the earth is 25000 mile around so 630,000 miles would be 25.2 trips around the earth!

That got me to thinking even further, what would my dad do? Well, for starters we would be eating alot of beans and rice. Second, there would be no Friday night date nights to New York. Summer vacation in Europe and Russia, those would be over, and of course we would have to start cleaning our own rooms. Additionally, he probably would turn off the air conditioning in the White House, certain would get rid of all the vehicles around, since he isn't driving them, and now that I think about it he would get rid of the limo also and start driving himself in something very economical. Oh yea, and work on it himself. That just for starters and I could go on and on about this but I won't.

As a country we have exceeded excessive. We are well beyond that. It isn't the politicians fault, heck we keep electing them into office. It is our fault...squarely our fault. We don't want hard times, we don't want this or we don't want that, fact of the matter is we want everything. We need to go on a diet...a money diet....its tough but that is what we are going to have to do soon.
I don't know about you but today's deficit news just reminds me of how big the problem is....and I don't feel very good about it. $1.4 trillion....that is a lot of money.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
