Fall Writing IdeasRecently I wrote a popular post here entitled:  How to Break Writer's Block.  In the comments there were so many of you who just did not know where to start with writing for your Blog.

Sometimes I forget how hard it is when you first start.   Now these ideas come natural to me.   After writing for over 3 years, I have found a few tricks along the way.   One of the most difficult thing for most new writers is what am I going to write about?   Can it be interesting?   Does it really matter?

Well what you write does matter, write about it, and it will come.  You do not have to be all real estate all the time, an occassional article about your community, your interests etc assist you to connect to the reader of your Blog.   If you can tie it into Real Estate even better...   If you are writing about the local library and you have a market Report, put a link to it.

Here are a few that might inspire you to write this month for your Real Estate Business:

  • October starts the 4th quarter...  A market report for the 3rd quarter would be an excellent post!
  • Fall Staging ideas
  • National Book Month
    • Write about your local library
    • Write about books written about your area
    • Write about Real Estate books
    • Write about mortgage books
  • National Breast Cancer Month
    • Write about your city's cancer center
    • Write about the special women in your life
  • National Child Care Month
    • Write about all the local Child Care Centers
    • Write about local playgrounds
    • Write about local children's programs
  • National Spinal Health Month
    • Write about local Chiropractors
    • Write about local rehab centers
    • Write about local Orthopedic Doctors
  • Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month
    • ASPCA and Iams Dog Food - write about your local dog shelter
    • Write about moving wih pets
  • Country Music Month
    • Write about country music happenings in you area
    • Are there any country music stars from your area?  Write about them...
  • The second week in October is also School Lunch Week Fall Ideas for your Blog posts
    • This is a great opportunity to write about the local schools.
    • A spotlight article on one of the "School Lunch Ladies" or if you have kids, go have lunch with them at school, take a few pictures and write about the experience.
  • National Radon Week is also the fourth week in October. This is a perfect time to write about Radon and how to detect in a home and a great time to write an informational piece that home owners and home buyers can use.
  • October 22 - Xerox introduced the copy machine in 1938. Write about your local copy center
  • October 31 - Halloween.
    • Where to get the best costumes
    • Wher to get the best pumpkins, apples etc

And all you thought you could write about this month was Halloween!   Happy Writing!

Well you certainly gave me a couple of ideas.  And right now I'm uber grateful for them.  I've just been complaining about writers block.

Thanks Colleen, I too was so afraid no one would like what I wrote, would it be interesting, etc. I wrote about a topic that is very dear to my heart-pets, and animals.  Tying it to real estate, you betcha-all the abandon pets as a result of this market, and what to do as realtors.  I got amazing responses.

Hi Colleen ~ Nice ideas and the best thing is it sets me off thinking of things to add to your list. All I usually need is a push in the right direction and off I go. Thanks for the push!

Colleen, I didn't have writer's block--plenty of ideas, photos to go with six of your proposed titles, as well as with my own ideas, and wanting to get the keywords right, the target audience right, and so on, with everything I learned at RainCamp in Seattle this Wednesday. Blessing on your day, and that comes from the heart.

Colleen: What WONDERFUL ideas!!!

When I first started here about 6 months ago I had no clue what I should write about.....so I started with my butt and went from there.  Sad, but true.

NOW I've got my camera and/or FlipVideo with me at all times.....if something catches my eye.....well then, HEY!  I'm STOPPING!  I'm worse than those garage-sale-puller-overs on Saturday mornings.

It's always good to have a go-to list for things to write about, though.....which is exactly why I've bookmarked your post! Thanks for sharing! :)

What a great post. About 3 years ago, no wait longer, I wrote an article on my spine surgeon, it still gets visits and I know he has new clients because of the post. Bookmarking this for future use, thanks.

Coleen -

I keep a running list in my notebook.  Sometimes the story works now, sometimes it's a couple of months down the road, but having that list to come back to is a great prompt.  And truly, the more you post, the more you can post!

I was one who commented on your original post and love your quarterly market report idea. I was just having this debate in my head this week about what to write about and had actually thought about doing a quarterly report....thanks for the confirmation

Thanks so much for the suggestions!  It's always nice to have a variety of ideas to break the monotony of market reports, and to provide things that are non- real estate related and still interesting to consumers

Thank you Colleen! When I first decided to join AR and blog, I wrote down all of the topics I could blog about and thought my audience would find interesting. Since I have started, I forgot all about my list of blogging ideas and you have just reminded me of them!

In addition, you have given me some ideas that I never even considered! Thanks again!

Colleen-going out with my camera tomorrow!  You had some great ideas.  I've bookmarked this and am starting a list.  Many thanks for taking the time to share your ideas with us.  I find myself getting to focused on writing about something related to Staging but there are so many other topics.  I've found that if I search the different groups on AR and also read the posts of others it helps open up my mind to various ideas.

Thanks for this list, Colleen! "Adopt A Shelter Dog" is definitely a cause that I can support, and I'm sure that Sundance will even help me a little with the writing.

Hi everyone!

I posted this and then got busy running with Buyers that I never saw that it was featured!    Writing is a wonderful passion for me, and it comes easily -- NOW.   When I started in 2006 it was a very different experience for me.

Hi Colleen ~ I'm glad I found this post again (it's often difficult to retrace my steps - search doesn;t work for me, my Favorites are out of control, and I've covered my desktop with a sea of shortcuts). I'm here via the Scavenger Hunt and I love this list.

Great list - I've found that whenever I say something to someone and they find it interesting, it's a great subject for a post. It becomes second nature.

Wanted you to know that I headed out today with my camera to the Delray Beach Orchid Society Show and Sale.
