So, this one is late in being written, but I just couldn't let it go by the wayside altogether. We had so much fun when we attended the Jamesville BalloonFest! It is sponsored by a variety of local organizations, including the Onondaga County Parks and 93Q. Admission is a modest $5 each, and there is a ton to do in the park for that amount!

We were there in the middle of the day, so we didn't get to see any hot air balloons being launched, but we did learn a lot about them by reading the history on the signs and talking to some of the pilots that were at the festival. The balloons go up very early in the morning and then again later in the afternoon, weather
permitting.
The weather was gorgeous when were there and hopes were very high for an evening launch. Rides can be arranged for $150 if you have the guts to go up there! A close friend of mine, who happens to be a photographer, did this a few years ago and she says it was really very interesting!

There are a variety of music acts to be heard at the park, along with lots of great food and some rides and games for the younger set.

The BalloonFest has all the trappings of a complete carnival, with the added excitement of the balloons to boot. The beach is also open during the festival, so it is really quite possible to go and spend a day at the park doing all sorts of different things.

You've missed it for this year, but keep your eye on the sky for the balloons when they roll (or fly!) back into town for next year's festival!

Not me! No guts for something like that! I used to be able to go on all kinds of rides ...now I can't even go up in a ferris wheel without getting nauseated!
That looks like it was fun to watch and something for the grandkids...one day...
