"One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats."

                                   Iris Murdoch

This is one of the tricks dieters use to stay on track. When they crave something, such as chocolate, they have a very small piece. Or one day a week they eat whatever they want, just in small portions.

I have been thinking about happiness lately and wondering why we always want what we don't have. We have a nice home, but want a bigger, newer one. We have money but want more. We can't seem to stop long enough to appreciate and be grateful for what we have. That is one god thing that has come out of the recession. People are taking a second look at materialism and the whole keeping up with the Jones' thing. Families are staying home and spending more time together.

When the economy does improve, we will be stronger.

Ann, I agree that we need to focus more on how blessed we are and all God has provided and will provide rather than keeping our eyes on what we want.

Realizing what you do have and being grateful for it is a wonderful thing. Goals are important...as a KW agent, you know it, you write it, you live it...but not to htre exclusion of remembering what we have.

Contentment is a beautiful thing, yet so fleeting. Knowing that what I have is more than enough for me and my family helps me steer clear of the 'bigger better' syndrome, but it's hard! Thanks for the share!

People have adjusted their purchasing patterns and have reduced their personal consumer debt at a significant rate over the past 6 mos.  They are buying less and what they buy, they use less credit for.  Many believe that this is a paradigm shift that was long overdo in the "have anything you want" society we're living in.

This return to common sense should be better for us all in the long run.  When we all focus on the truly important things and remember we are blessed, then truly has meaning.

A return to family and values and a shift from "keeping up with the jones'" has been long overdue.

I have learned long ago not to overlook what the Lord has given

When I read your Blog these sayings came to mind ~

Your struggles develop your strength.
When you go through hardship
and decide not to surrender,
that is strength.

Reminders from God ~
"You are entering a new stage of success. See My Hand in all the happenings."
