Prior to moving to Franklin, TN, I lived in California - both in the L.A. area (La Canada) and in San Diego. While each had their own charms, there was something missing. There wasn't a lot of character to any of the towns I lived in. When we found Franklin, we were hooked. I didn't know "Main Street USA" (from Disneyland) was taken from real towns out there. I thought it was a figment of someone's imagination.
I often use the Disney comparison to try to explain Franklin to my out of state clients. Almost EVERYBODY has been to Disneyland or Disneyworld. Not everyone had experienced the charm of small town America - or more specifically, Franklin, TN.
It turns out, there's a lot of people out there who agree. Franklin was recently announced as one of 10 "great neighborhoods" in the American Planning Association's Great Places in America Program.
This isn't the first time people have taken notice. In fact, it's the 3rd time this year that Franklin received national recognition. Most recently, Southern Living magazine ranked Franklin, TN as the 5th best small town and Business Week ranked it as one of the top 50 small U.S. cities for entrepreneurs wanting to launch a business.
The Tennessean just posted an article about this today. If you'd like to read more about it, click here: Franklin Makes Great Neighborhoods List
