Congratulations to William R. Blanchard the new President of Columbus Bank and Trust Company. Columbus Ga Homes CB&T logo  "Billy" Blanchard is replacing longtime president Steve Melton.  Melton will retain the position as CEO of CB&T and Regional CEO of Synovus.  William R Blanchard has been working at CB&T since 1995, he has served as the Chairman of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and is currently the Chairman of the Chattahoochee Valley United Way.

William R. Blanchard continues a family banking tradition.  He follows in the footsteps of his father James H. Blanchard, who was president of CB&T from the early 70's until the mid 80's.  He also retired as Chairman and CEO of Synovus.  James H's father, William's grandfather, James W Blanchard was the President of CB&T from the late 50's until 1969.  Like father like son, like son.

The younger Blanchard represents the next generation of leadership in the local company.  The previous generations have grown and expanded CB&T over several decades.  The comapny enjoys a good reputation and a respectable profitabilty.  William R. Blanchard has proven leadership in Columbus Ga, his promotion to head Columbus Bank and Trust Company will benefit stockholders and the community.
