The other day I was coming home from a meeting with a Client when I decided that I wanted to stop and get something to eat to help stimulate the economy.
Prior to the experts telling me that we were in a recession, I ate out once a week. As soon as I digested the information about being in a recession, I started eating out two or three times a week.
I was casually driving through my Client's neighborhood trying to decide between Souplantation, On The Border, Chili's, Redfish, Ottavio's, Olive Garden, Pizza Nova, or Papa John's, when the following sign caught my attention. Do you think I ate there?

Hi Russel, I bet you did eat there, just out of curiousity if nothing else. Also, your stamp blogs inspired me to put a stamp on my blog about Grand Coulee Dam - although my stamp has a big flash in the middle of the picture because I took it through glass. I'm still learning.
Okay folks! I have a surprise for everyone. I did not eat here, but not because I didn't want to. I went in to look around and found only cards. Since I was needing to buy an anniversary card for a friend of mine, I did spend $4.01 there. It's a great card shop over in the Point Loma area, Point Loma Boulevard at Sports Arena Boulevard.
The moral of the story is:
Things might not always be what they seem.
You can use a play on words in your own advertising, something we learned in the recent ActiveRain Nature & Marketing contest.
So on this Sunday before the Columbus Day holiday, stop by a card shop, online or offline, and buy your loved one -- children, mom, dad, brother, sister, husband, wife -- a card....
Awesome! I'm so glad I found this a little late and got to read through all the comments before catching the punch line! Too funny! You got us all, and you got us all wanting seafood!
Russel: Thank you for participating in stimulating the economy. I am eating out more now too. Halibut is my favorite fish ... in fact, it is only one of three fish I eat. Having fished in Alaska ... caught a 92 pound halibut ... I appreciate a firm halibut filet. I hope you enjoyed your halibut experience!
I wound up eating at Souplantation. They have a 45' salad bar with all sorts of goodies, as well as lots of soups and pastas, muffins, deserts, etc. It's a $9.59 buffet, and I know they always lose money when I show up.
I would totally eat there! What a fun play on words. I think it's great you eat out a few times a week to help stimulate the economy! I also do some shopping in local stores and eat at my local restaurants every month. Hopefully it's helping a little bit! Hope you enjoyed your meal.
