My owner is a marketing & business consultant in San Diego. You're going to die is one of my series of posts based on the book, Life 101: Everything We Wish We Had Learned About Life In School — But Didn't.

Life 101This book is a very powerful inspirational and self-help book without being pretentious about being powerful, inspirational, or a self-help book. If you're interested in doing something about your life and don't have the money right now for a life coach, try this book. There are probably used copies at amazon.com for pennies on the dollar.

Maybe something here, or in this series, will be the inspiration that can help you through a particularly tough day or time in your life.

Death has always fascinated me because, after birth, it is the one thing that truly is universal, transcending cultures, countries, religions, sex, and sexual orientation. You are going to die!

While it appears that some people will do just about anything to live forever on this Earth, I am not of that ilk. When my time is up and it's my time to go, please let me go. Let's look at what some other people have said about death:

  1. Virgil (70-19 B.C.E.) - "Thus, thus, it is joy to pass to the world below." I guess he knew he was going to hell? LOL
  2. Bull, a fictional character from Night Court (1984-1992)- "Death is ust nature's way of telling you, 'Hey, you're not alive anymore.' "
  3. Mohandas Gandhi (1869-1948) - "We do not know whether it is good to live or to die. Therefore, we should not take delight in living nor should be tremble at the thought of death."
  4. Woody Allen (b. 1935) - "The difference between sex and death is that with death you can do it alone and no one is going to make fun of you."
  5. Thomas Mann (1875-1955) - The only religiuos way to think of death is as part and parcel of life; to regard it, with the understanding and the emotions, as the inviolable condition of life."
  6. Mark Twain (1835-1910) - "Death, the only immortal who treats us all alike, whose pity and whose peace and whose refuge are for all -- the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved."
  7. Vladimir Nabokov (1899-1977) - "Life is a great surprise. I do not see why death should not be an even greater one."
  8. Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) - "Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me."
  9. Albert Einstein (1879-1955) - "The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there is no risk of accident to someone who's dead."
  10. Walt Whitma (1819-1892) - "Nothing can happen more beautiful than death."

Hey, Crystal - I'm not so sure I'm obsessed with death, just fascinated with it. I find that there is a differentiation between the two. I think it's interesting that not only do people die, but so do animals, birds, insects, spiders, snakes, trees, bushes, flowers, moons, stars, suns, galaxies, etc. Everything lives. Everything dies. In its own way. I hope that I have more to offer the world in my life than I do in my death.

Hey, Stephanie - I have a fascination with live, too, so I heartily agree that I have too much to offer this world. However, I'm not so sure that I'm moving on to the next. Nonetheless, I do hope that during my lifetime I have made a positive impact on a few people that have had to put up with me, if not all of them -- LOL.

Russell:  Ever since my Mother had her stroke (three years ago this month) I have come into complete acceptance of death. It's been a process ... just like everything else in life ... and in that process ... I have come to accept my own death ... we are ALL going to die ... I believe highly calibrated individuals see death much differently than the masses.
