Halloween is almost upon us, and for those who are new to Dallas, a favorite Halloween event is the Dallas LGBT community's Crossroads Halloween Street Festival.  The highlight of the evening is the costume parade featuring some of the best and most imaginative costumes I have ever seen.  Many people start planning for the following year right after the current year's event!

This year the festival will take place on Saturday, October 31.  Things begin to get busy by 8 or 9:00 in the evening and get busier as the night progresses.  The costumes are always fun and elaborate and the crowd always has a great time.  You do not need to be a member of the LGBT community to enjoy yourself and the crowd.

The event takes place on Cedar Springs Boulevard between Douglas and Oak Lawn.  Parking can get limited with the crowds growing bigger each year, so allow time to find parking.

Steve:  The last time I went to a Halloween event... was a party for all the residents of an apartment complex in far eastern Fort Worth... near DFW airport.  I went as a "nun."  Full costume... head-gear and everything... complete with a ruler to slap knuckles with.  I won the prize... a five hundred dollar rent credit on the next month's rent.  A pretty good return on the investment of $29.95 on the nun's costume... doncha think ?

So... what are YOU going to dress up as ?

Steve, That sounds like a funfest! Last year I dressed up as a geisha girl and my best friend didn't even recognize me! I love Halloween because it's the one day you can be someone else!

I've never heard it called the Crossroads Street Festival. I've only ever heard it called the Cedar Springs Halloween Block Party. I've gone several times, and (*laughing) I sure remember that first time and being in complete and utter shock as it was not explained or described to me at all before going...

I guess my friends enjoyed seeing me blush.

Steve, I love these events and some people are SO creative with their costumes.  If it's not too cold, I hope to head to NYC where the parade is always wonderful!

We close down 6th Street in Austin for a huge TX sized Halloween party like no other. You should drop by wearing your best costume and see how much prize money you can win.
