Clip, clip, clip, klop, kloppety, klop.......here she comes again.....

"She" means all the women in my office who wear "bad" shoes.  Dumb shoes is what I call them.  There is a pergo floor in the hall and the sounds of those shoes grate on the nerves.

A little filler in the paper today said this.  More than 60% of women select damaging shoes.  Based on the questioning of 3,378 men and women from Framingham, Mass., the study indicated that only 2% of men choose bad shoes.  The questions were based on past and present and the women's answers showed a Shoe for comfortdefinite link between foot pain and shoes.

Women who reported they'd worn high heels, pumps, sandles and slippers all their lives were at the greatest risk of foot pain in their older years.

So those women coming up and down the hall who are so annoying in sound will get their's.  I'm just waiting.  I've always thought we women were as smart as men but in the shoe department we rank way, way below.  I've also made the statement that until women choose comfortable shoes they'll never be truly equal to men.  Unfortunately, I don't get many to agree with me.

In fact, the choices of shoes for women seem to get wilder and wilder. This one is a Jimmy Choo and is on the internet for $240.  It would be a better choice than some because at least it is strapped on the foot.

My feet feel better right now just knowing that I can't affort this shoe!

Barbara: I couldn't agree more! Some of the shoes women choose to wear these days are just plain silly!

How about these from a recent fashion show in Paris? Designed by a man, of course! Not too far off from the days when Chinese women bound their feet to keep them small.

Guess you can tell you touched on a 'sore subject' -- pun intended -- with me!

Thanks Barbara - your post made me start my day with a smile. After all the strides women have made in the "man's world" some of us still can't abandon impractical fads.

Debbie, you said, "Funny."  But you didn't say what kind of shoes you wear.

Kim, OMG!!!  Those are the worst I've ever seen and they are as bad as the Chinese foot binding.  The difference is women have a choice now and could choose NOT to wear those things.  Thanks for sharing that picture.  It makes my Jimmy Choo look comfortable.

Gloria, can you imagine Hillary Clinton visiting with dignitaries in foreign countries wearing shoes like this?  She wouldn't.  I think she is too smart!

Barbara, don't you remember that Billy Crystal taught us that it is better to look good than feel good?:)  Can you really imagine Nutsy without her high heels?

Charles, I can't imagine that... I'd like to... but it's burned in my memory.

HI Barbara!
As I have pointed out before on the Rain, I boast a 4E width. Believe me, the selection is minimal and most look like ... well, how do I put this nicely...my mothers shoes. I hate it. The good news is that my feet are as good as they will get. The bad news is I did damage early in my life by cramming them into shoes that just weren't a "good fit".

Godmother,

Revenge will be sweet for me too when that Mrs Kate fizzles. Today she is writing about Gandhi, yet she is certainly not peaceful when she addresses me, your Godson, Nutsy.

Nutsy the muskrat muffrat. You found your ears but lost your neck. And the little chippies my granddaughter and I fed were mortified to hear of your shanigans and claim no relation to you.

Charles, your first sentence was very appropriate.  Second sentence?  The pits.....

Kate, you and Charles are being bad again.....

Paula, that must be a hard shoe to find.  Being an average foot, I assume that is a wide foot or possibly a narrow one?  Explain it.

Little Love Muffin Nutsy, the two of them Ms K and Mr B, have no inkling of how nice it is to be have our relationship.  They're just jealous.

James, I remember giving up high heels when I visited San Francisco.  I walked up a hill in high heels.  It was a very steep hill (Knob Hill?) and coming back down it, in high heels, was a ridiculous sight.  I held onto the wall to keep from rolling down.  Then and there I swore off high heels for life!

Godmother,

Will you please tell them to quite slighting me. It really gets me steamed. The other day I got so mad I kicked the office cat and broke my foot.

Nutsy,

If I've told you once I've told you a hundred times to control your temper.  That cat was innocent.  Now if it had been Ms. Kate or Mr. Charles that you kicked I could almost understand.  But even they have a few redeeming qualities if you look really hard.  So watch your temper or I may have to visit my attorney.

Okay, Cynthia.  We've seen shoulder;  now it's ankle time.  I do have Georgia roots, you know.  And my daughter, who is really smart and witty, lives in Columbus right now.

Barbara - This is a funny post and do you want to here something really weird and strange ....... The rock musician named "Prince" has very bad hips from wearing women's high heal shoes!

These types of shoes can't be good for any part of your body, and your post has been featured at one of my favorite groups ...........

Robert, I love being featured in your groups.  I didn't know Prince had the problem of high-heeled shoes!  Lesson learned, however!  Leave those killers in the store windows!

Hi Barbara ~ After breaking an ankle years ago I'm all for comfortable shoes each and every day. And I gotta say - all the flipflop wearers in the office - male and female - are on my list. That flapping drives me to distraction.

Liz, I'm glad others are annoyed by the noise of FEET in SHOES!  This love for pergo and hardwood all over again instead of the softness of carpet may drive us to drink!
