Donna Sternberg & Dancers Perform Quantum Entanglement

Culver City Performing Grants Award recipient Donna Sternberg & Dancers, in collaboration with Michael Masucci/EZTV, present a dance/multimedia event on October 16 and 17. Exploring the concept of entanglement from both a scientific and human perspective, Quantum Entanglement mixes up the subatomic movement of particles with the emotional ramifications of being entwined with people and situations. The performance will be presented at Royal T, 8910 Washington Blvd. in Culver City on Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17 at 8:30 P.M. Each year in California hundreds of thousands of computers, copiers, fax machines, printers, televisions, and other electronic equipment become "obsolete" in the eyes of consumers. A growing challenge for businesses, residents, and communities to reuse, recycle, or properly dispose of this equipment and in recognition of this growing threat to our environment, in keeping with the City's goal of recycling all forms of solid waste, the City has collaborated with California Recycles, Inc., and Culver Palms Methodist United Church to oversee its electronic waste recycling program.

Fox Hills Park Pride Day

Fox Hills Neighborhood Association FHNA was established in 1972 to help enhance the livability of the Fox Hills area through unified community action. In continuing this tradition, FHNA will host the 4th Annual Fox Hills Park Pride Day at 10am on Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Fox Hills Park located on the corner of Green Valley Circle and Buckingham Parkway in Culver City. On this day, park improvement volunteers will plow, plant and paint for a few morning hours and then be treated to lunch served in the park. Fox Hills Park Pride Day started as a beautification project to make our neighborhood park more enjoyable for both local residents and visitors. In past years, volunteers of all ages, city officials and local businesses have joined forces to plant new flowers along the park's eroded hillsides and re-paint park surface areas. The concert, Season Premiere: City Music,Ten Years in Culver City, is under the direction of its Conductor-Frank Fetta. This concert offers a wide variety of musical styles - from recent music of Stravinsky and Copland, to the continuing celebration of the Bicentennial of Mendelssohn's birth, to a very obscure bass concerto, to one of the masterpieces of Beethoven and all symphonic music. Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos Plays with"We Tell Stories"

2:00 pm

The storytelling troupe "We Tell Stories" presents scary but, not too scary interactive story-based plays in celebration of Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos. Child volunteers are picked from the audience to dress up and participate in the plays. Children may attend in Halloween costume and begin their Halloween "Trick or Treat" in the library. Families and children of all ages are welcome. Performance made possible in part by the Culver City Performing Arts Grant Program with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
