Gananoque, Ontario

The fall foliage is fantastic this year and we decided to bring some of it into the house to decorate the dining room for Thanksgiving.  We did a huge arrangement on the corner fireplace.

We did another on the side table and then still one more on the buffet we built to insert in the window seat on those holidays where the table gets too full for food :0)

Of course, Thanksgiving wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the turkey :0)

We celebrated yesterday to make it more convenient for out of town family members. This year we had only 10 for dinner so we have two fridges filled with leftovers.  Should make for a good week of nibbling on turkey and ham made into cornbread sandwiches.

To all my fellow Canadians, Gobble Gobble!

Hi Rita -  I always go over the top on decor.  You should see our place at Halloween!!!  As per norm, we ate far too much of things we only have but once a year so I'm not too concerned :o)   Everyone left happy and round!

Susan - I trust you had a wonderful thanksgiving ... we also brought the natural colours of fall into our decorating for thanksgiving ... I noticed th high ceilings, wood trim, hot water heating, and heritage wallpaper in your great pictures ... you obviously share my passion for century homes

Kathy - thanks so much.  Of course my husband, being from Europe, thinks our house is quite young . . .  early 1800's  :0)   To the left of the house (outside the photo) would be the entrance to what was the Dr's office.  This is now a 900 sq ft apartment for my Mother.  The North Wing to the rear of the house would have housed the hired help and it is like a walk thru history seeing the differences between the 3 sections of the house, even tho they were all constructed at the same time.   It is one of the few homes in the area that has remained a family home rather than turned into apartments or B and B's.  It remained in the original family, generation after generation.  I was almost sad to purchase it out of the family!

Come on back for a visit!
