I didn't have an Open House scheduled for Sunday.  And I got most of my to do list for the next few days checked off in time for my Saturday night date, including writin the Week in Review and getting it posted as a draft.  So when the urge to see an ocean struck my sweetie and I during dinner, we decided a quick trip to the Atlantic was in order.

After a cloudy Saturday, Sunday so Sunday morning, we climbed into his Boxster and headed east with the top down.

The ride to the beach takes you across the Bay Bridge and on through Easton, MD, and then south and east to Ocean City.  We passed this country church just outside of Easton.

And we arrived early afternoon.

Somewhere in the middle of the Bay Bridge, I realized that I'd forgotten to bring my laptop and we might not get home in time to post the Week in Review.  So I pulled out my I-Phone, and just before the battery crapped out, I managed to change it from draft to Members Only!  Long Live Technology!

Of course, it's off season, although since it's a 3-day weekend, there were a fair number of people there.

There was this guy trying to catch a few fish.

And during our walk down the beach, we saw a bunch of gulls who were trying to catch a whole school of fish.

Then there were a bunch of great kites in front of a great kite store on the boardwalk.

The kite store also sold butterfly chairs and happy birds.

Then we had a dinner of steamer clams and lobster at a place in Rehobeth called "Claws", put the top up and drove home.

OK, it's not like Jon Zolsky who can walk out his front door in Daytona Beach and see ocean.  But it's nice to know that if we have an urge to see surf, that even though it's not a couple of minutes away, it is just a couple of hours away.

WoW! I'm jealous! We went to the beach this weekend too, but it RAINED! It was cold and miserable! No kites, or Porches for us!

Hi Pat... I am wondering if "bunch" is the correct description for a collection of gulls.  I kind of like "gaggle" since it works so well with geese.  :)

pat- Any day at the beach is worth the time to get there. So glad you did. Since I was just there a few short weeks ago it was fun seeing your photos of things I have noticed each time I make the trip. I did miss that chair this last time around and I love it. How cool.

Hi Pat...Walking on the beach is one of my favorite things.  Doing almost anything by the water makes it that much better.

Love the colorful kites.  It's so much fun to see them dancing in the air.

I love going to the coast off season when the crowds are light and the beach is largely open.  Sounds like a great trip and makes me want to plan one.  Of course, I'll be driving to the left coast, but only about 3 hours away.

In the other Washington,

Dan

Ralph, it's really fun with a top down!

Greg, yeah, the great weather and kites and car made it really nice!

Steve, well, yeah, it was probably a few more than a bunch.

And Martha, you're at least an hour closer to the ocean!

Pat - gad, I haven't been to OC MD for sooo long. It was always a fun trip as long as you didn't try it during the holiday weekends. Sometimes those spontaneous trips are the most fun. So where's the pic of the trip over the bridge?

Patricia, I hear you. At least you could travel with your top down (on the way to the beach). Hey, good use for your (not quite your, though-LOL) boxter

And boy, what a wonderful weather we are having here. Low 90s, but on the beachside where we are it is moderated by the ocean, and we hardly ever have 90. And the water is very warm at 83. For the last couple of weeks the schools of giant red fish and mullet are right by the shore and fisherman are hurriedly pulling nets with 15-17 fish at a time, and rush back and in 3 minutes they are back with fish.

I am not a fisherman, and I enjoy long walks on the beach. If this is a retirement dream, I am closer to the retirement then (LOL)

No more tops down in Cleveland and it takes a lot longer for us to get to the ocean but when we do it's always memorable. Glad you had a good time.

I am most happy that technology worked and you were able to get your Week in Review posted!  Thank you again for the great boost to my blog post.  And I absolutely love Maryland and the ocean.  Spent some wonderful times at Annapolis (my son is a grad) - great place to live!

That's a great way to spend the day. I did two day trips in August - one to Chesapeake City and the other to Annapolis and St Michaels. It's a great way to recharge the battery.
