October 12th.  A special day for me.   The day I entered the career of real estate sales...

It was four years ago this week.  October 12th, 2005.

How clueless I was that first day.  Sitting at my desk.  My phone and laptop in front of me.

What do I do now???

Most new agents probably don't know what they are getting themselves into.

How could they?

I sure didn't.  I thought it would be easy.

Real estate sales?  Just smile and open some doors.  No problem.

I was about to enroll in the "School of Hard Knocks"...

Would I do it over again?  Could I do it over again?

Would I be able to withstand the challenges I had coming?

Yes.  I love what I do.  But it sure has been rough.  I had no idea how challenging real estate would be....

I chuckle just thinking about it.

Would I do it again?  Of course I would.

I am just glad I don't have to...

Ken

Ken, don't you wish there were things they told you before you got into the business?  I'm like you, I don't regret a thing, but wow it sure isn't cheap being in this business and to top it off I started last year in a rapidly declining market!  I'm glad I did though because I had nowhere to go but up!  :)  To your success!

Hi Ken:

What a beautiful picture.  I hope you do find that pot of gold.  My date is October 15, 1996.  That's when I originally was licensed in Illinois.  How's the weather up there.  It's 91 here in central Texas today.

Ken, good post, congrats for sticking with it.

June 6, 2006 was my first day sitting in front of the computer not knowing what to do. In comes KW training and camp 443...  closed my first deal August of 2006 and have closed 193 sides and $34,200,000 since then.   I LOVE THIS BUSINESS

Hi Ken. In the beginning it was terrible. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't have a mentor. However I'm glad that I went through trial and error. I love this business and would not want it any other way. ~ Lana

Hey Ken, 44 degrees, ouch.  I used to live near lake Michigan and know what that cold weather feels like.  It has been really nice here, in the 80's.

Hi Lana, Jeff, and Joesph.  Thanks for commenting.

I already have found that pot of gold.  I love what I do...

The cold builds character.  I love fall.  Beautiful changing leaves.

Happy 4 year anniversary Ken...  You know that you made the right decision, even though the economic changes have made business more of a challenge!

Congratulations - I wish you many years of success!

Chanda panda....Long story short, everybody puts an 'r' in my name...I use it to help people realize there is no 'r'...This tactic still doesn't yield the greatest results, they still call me "ChandRa"...  :)

Now I know you've seen Anna Banana (http://activerain.com/annabanana)  Her name gave me the idea...

Ken,  I grew up around the business from the time I was 19, from the title and mortgage side.   I never thought I would end up on this side of the business, and said so more than once.  Funny, never say never.  I jumped in feet first a couple of years ago, and haven't looked back.  I do think brokers need to better prepare and be honest with people considering becoming a new agent, in this economy it could bankrupt someone if they aren't careful.

Chicago!  My husband wants to visit Ikea and I told him I want to go to the one in Chicago so we can go to Giordano's, instead of the one in my home town of Cincy.  I think I spelled Giordano's right.  Your pizza in your area is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kathy, Heather, Chanda, Debbie and Steve.  Thanks so much for stopping in.

Yes the pizza in Chicago is great.  Giordano's stuffed pepperoni and sausage.  Mmmm.

It has been a good four years.  Had two daughters born...

Let's all have a great 2010!

I think we all share your thoughts on what is was like when we first entered real estate. What were we thinking is an understatement because each year, each transaction we/I seem to learn something new!

And yes, let's all have a great 2010!
