What kind of books do you read? While perusing the book store for a great read I gravitate toward documentaries, news and then look at the soulful (Deepak Chopra) stuff that has helped me through the years with ‘getting a grip' on the meaning of life.  On the flip side I love the weird but ‘exotic' writing of Stephen King.

What kind of television shows do you watch?  My husband got me into watching history, NATGEO and all those channels and topics I didn't even know about.  I'm still learning! On the flip side I like cop shows and action/drama/love/fantasy stories.  And most of all I LOVE kiddie movies that teach some sort of lesson.

When you look at the wide variety of topics for entertainment that I like you can safely presume that I have an open mind to pretty much anything.  Separating fact and fiction is a must and no matter what the topic I try to find some learning lesson in everything I read or watch.

There ARE learning lessons in all we do....if you just look for it.

In the real estate industry we have to ask questions, research and learn more about the changes in laws and contracts. We form an opinion after gathering all the information and wholeheartedly separate the fact from fiction.  We are confident and comfortable in our own skin while giving the consumer and our peers the correct information.

Having a grip on life and business means continuing education.... and then giving the facts.

Sis - Sounds like we have similar tastes in both books & television.  In fact, I've watched some fascinating stuff on the History Channel the past few days about the whole JFK assassination.  I will tell you this, though, Stephen King is tough to beat.

Sally, I spend a lot of time reading the blogs on AC. Like to read about sailing and do enjoy A New Earth. Lately have been reading The Book of Secrets.

hi Sally. probably no surprise that I read a lot of geeky stuff i.e. chess strategies, astronomy, programming & design sort of things and tons of stuff online but my television habits are all over the place.

I'm addicted to 24, Hockey Night In Canada eh!, NOVA & Charlie Rose on PBS and love watching my favorite movies i.e. The Godfather, The Red Violin, ET, Diggstown more times than I care to admit in public. ;-) Like you, I'm always open to interesting suggestions from my better half, friends, etc...

I barely have time to read these days if it's not online. One book I read years ago was, "All I really Need To Know About Life I Learned By Watching Star Trek". That may sum it up for me! LOL

This business is a continuous learning process as things are always changing. The biggest fact and fiction situations are usually all the fictions that people pass along.

I'm much too serious to read any fiction. I enjoy learning so much - from books, here, Youtube. I could feel my head is almost like a sponge. It's absorbing so much everyday. It's super cool.

Sally -

These questions are also a good way to engage clients - it's easy and non-threatening - especially for those who like one/two word answers!

Sally - Loved your previous post and love this one too!  Wow do we have a lot in common - something I always discover when I read your posts - because you engage.  I read so many diffeent kinds of books and one that I'm reading right now is more about Faith and while I don't write specifically about my faith in my blog posts I do believe it comes out in the way I write and how I care about my readers.  Often these books which are not real estate or marketing related  will trigger a thought that I can turn into a blog post.  Thanks for sharing and reminding us all about the lessons that are out there where we least expect it :) Anne Marie
