I have a girl friend who just moved here from Maryland and is going to a real estate school.  She is a single Mom so she want to be a Realtor so she as flexibility to be there for her daughter.  I was wondering if you know any Real Estate company were she could work independently from home as a Realtor.  If so what are the draw back for working for such a company vs working for a traditional real estate company. Any feedback would be very helpful

Thanx in advance

Most real estate agents work out of office now.  Very few have actual physical office at the real estate broker's place.

Yes I do! Keller Williams is a great place to work especially if you are looking to work from a home office! Keller Williams let's you brand yourself and to be truly self employed. Plus Keller Williams had profit sharing, fantastic ongoing education- bar none! Also the highest commission cut!! If you are serious about finding the right brokercompany and would like more information- please call me and I can send you in the right direction.

Isn't that what most real estate agents do?  I do have a desk at the office, which comes in handy when I need to meet people somewhere (and more than one agent in our office has found it handy when the laptop goes on the fritz - they can come in and use the office computer until theirs is fixed), but most of my work is done out of my home office.  However, your friend will need to know that she doesn't get to just sit home and be an agent - MOST of her time will be spent out and about, either showing homes or going on listing presentations or networking so as to get buyers and sellers.

Few people will tell you this just this way, I think, but your friend is entering an industry where she is (potentially) revenue, and her boss is (definitely) overhead.   That being the case, if she has a license and can fog a mirror, she'll probably get multiple job offers no matter where she wants to call her office.

I realize that that's kind of a cynical way to put it.

Catch me next week after I've had my lobotomy and I think I can do better. :)

Interesting.  I guess i used to go to the office once in a while.  I am an independant contractor as most agents in Minnesota are and I do work from home and from my car and in coffee shops.  I just go to the office to turn in files andto use the copy macnine.  There is a down side.  i miss having people to talk to and  spend too much time on the internet other wise it is a good life.

Most agents do work from home these days. However mist new agents find spending time in the office helps with the learning.

I'm no longer with a Keller Williams but I think that is a great place for a new agent to start out.  They have a great training program and most agents work from home.
