Simon - I don't want to play, and with this administration we all lose, sad but true!
I'm not playin....
We've all been playing it for decades and don't even realize it. At some point the looters in Washington will run out of money to steal from people like you and me that actually contribute to this economy. China is already questioning the value of the U.S. dollar. Hopefully the end isn't near.
Does that mean we can re-build capitalism by getting rid of the stuff that goverment takes over now? Like the post office and medicare? Or your local fire department?
Let's shut 'em all down and really get down to capitalism. I'm sick of paying $3.95 to ship a giant package to Michigan. I want out of that socialist crap. I want to pay FedEx ten times more.
Or do we just pick and choose the govt programs we like?
Thought so.
Hmmmm - don't know what post office is shipping from Arizona to Michigan for $3.95. Postal rates and Fedex rates are actually quite similar, except for first class mail, which FedEx, by law, cannot deliver.
We do have a lot of volunteer fire departments.
Medicare killed private sector insurance for seniors.
The dollar is already behind the Euro and Yen as part of currency reserves in the world, having lost half of it's deposits.
Actually, I am not playing, I am being conscripted. Damn, just like when I got drafted.
Mike- You used to work for the PO and gave me a pretty good lesson in its business ops on one of my blogs. You may have to pull out the old teacher rendition again for the above poster.
Mike - yes please do school us about the post office as if that has anything to do with the point.
Kevin - thanks for adding such a brilliant comment, what a great point you make, keep up the good work!
Simon - capitalism is fine without the corruption, greed and coercion we see across every so called "free" market today. Time to reel in the money grubbers a bit that sucked this country into a near depression but I doubt the rubes in Washington have the guts to stand up to the corporate machine.
Tana - Call me, Mexico awaits!
I want a choice, it's my right to have a choice, I deserve a choice. I'm not gonna play either!!!!
Simon,
Are we still playing or we already lost?
And when we lose, will China do a loan modification for us?
Jon~Thats a good one
Simon~You are obviously just a racist, you'veforgotten the important thing. Obama won a Nobel Prize.
Disclaimer~Simon and anyone else who knows me at all knows this comment was in jest.
Left to its own devices, unchecked capitalism will devour itself. Just ask grandaddy Greenspan. Even he couldn't forsee greed maiming the giant.
Your right about playing Simon, unfortunately the right wing extremists took over your party (by virtue of the sane among you letting them) resulting in the alienation of moderates and independents and destroying any chance of honest debate.
The game board has been in the process of being set up for quite a while now... Have you read Alexis deTocqueville? He predicted that the end of the "American Experiment" would be when the majority were able to vote largess from the treasury... paid by the minority. We are getting pretty close. The bottom 50% of tax payers pay 3% of the taxes.
John Secor - read the comments, I was not the first to bring it up
Nogui - I believe that your comment is a great example of why honest debate is difficult, unfortunately, your identified at most, only a part of the problem.
Lane - it wasn't only de Tocqueville that predicted this.
Thanks Mike. After the complete defeat of the Republican party in November, the moderates slinked away to lick their wounds and regroup. Into that giant vacuum the extremists to stepped into- and we have what we have today- no real debate and bunch of people just screaming at each other.
Nogui - that sounds like the left for the last 15 years.
I say let's play to win......
In the beginning a patriot is a scarce man, hated and feared and scorned. But in time when his cause succeeds, the timid join him, because then it costs nothing to be patriot. Mark Twain
We have had great men and women who have died for this great dream "America".....
I do not intend to let them die in vain. Nor do I intend to not give my children an opportunity at the "American Dream!"
By the way this administration may be up to bat but they have no idea the team they are up against!!
America is Me!!!
Where is that post office that ships a giant package for 3.95? AZ to Mi 1lb is 4.90. A little larger package say 10lbs ( certainly not giant) would ship parcel post for 15.21 without additional services and could take 7-10 days to arrive.
Fedex charges 14.42, includes insurance, includes online tracking, delivery receipt and gets it there in 4 days.
Seems like Fedex is more efficient and offers more services for less. I prefer to use fedex. Their employees care about your business and satisfaction. The PO could care less.
