Earthquake preparedness is a serious matter, and California is once again demonstrating a commitment to making sure residents are prepared in the event of an earthquake.
The Great California ShakeOut 2009 is set for this Thursday, October 15th, at 10:15 am, with over 6.5 million already registered to participate in the largest earthquake drill ever (last year's event, the first, had almost 5.5 million taking part in drills at home, at work, in schools and a wide range of communities establishments).
Why not learn more about Drop Cover and Hold On and the reasons behind this strategy for protecting yourself in an earthquake, even if you decide to not participate, or can't for some reason.
Here is the Great California ShakeOut 2009 information IN SPANISH.
And for those interested in learning about specific earthquakes that have occurred in California and neighboring Nevada recently, check out this earthquake map. Information is generally posted within an hour or so of an earthquake.
