Pullman WA Fall Market

Fall is here and winter is approaching...with that in mind temperatures are dropping. Last week in Pullman Washington we had unusually cold weather. Temperatures dropped from our usual 30 to 40 night time temps to nearly 10 degrees!  Fortunately, things have warmed back up, but with that in mind it is time to think about how your home "shows" during the fall and winter months.

For those of you home owners who are living in your home while your home is on the market, please make sure to leave those interior lights on and furnace up for showings.   If you should have a fireplace, a fire in the fireplace is a great selling point!

A well lit home is a great marketing tool too!  You might want to consider some lights a long your walk way. And think of how many people pass by your home on their way home from work.  Your home beaming with lights provides a welcome beacon that makes that buyer want to come in and see your lovely home first hand.

And if you do find yourself having to move on to your new location, leaving your home vacant during the fall and winter months, one of the very most important thing you can do is leave your thermostat up!  A cold and dark home just doesn't have that warm inviting feeling that allows a buyer to see themselves in their new home. Leaving your heat at merely 50 plus may protect your pipes from freezing weather, but it doesn't provide that warm comfy feeling your buyers are looking for!   So, turn up the heat!  Your buyers and you, the seller, could very well be glad you did!

Lori - As temperatures drop and the Holidays round the corner sales do drop, but there are occasional clients that purchase in these times of the year.

Las Vegas stays fairly warm around winter so our sales go on all year.

Lori, my sister lived in Idaho and my niece was born in Pullman. Boy I remember the extreme cold weather. I just get cold, thinking about it. You're giving a really good advice. Buyers flee the cold houses and because of it, they don't get the chance to look around and get a feel for them.

Robert is correct and they're buyers out there in the months of November and December. I bought my own home a week before Thanksgiving. It was a very cold day and the warm house was so welcoming.

Robert ~ Yes, our sales do drop off...but I remember writing my first offer...it was in January and in the middle of one heck of snow storm....I wanted to personally drop off the offer at the agents house which we do a lot in our small community...but was afraid I wasn't going to make it up the hill!

Shirin ~ Yes you do have much milder weather in Seattle..that is for sure...it has been raining here today cats and dogs...with lots more to come...but at least it isn't snow!

Lori, Great information on creating a warm, inviting showing for a potential buyer.  Once I reached Texas, I haven't looked back on winter real estate issues at all!  Good luck.

Lori, ALL excellent points especially to remember ample lighting. No one likes to tour a dark home.

Susan ~ Yes, your weather is surely nice!  Thannks of stopping by!

Gary ~ Ample lighting is important.  Something about dark homes just makes everyone feel uncomfortable...
