The $8,000 home buyers credit may be extended until June 2010. Congress is currently considering the extension. Under consideration also is the possibly of expanding the credit to all homebuyers who meet income eligibility requirements. This would be expanded to include all but the wealthiest homebuyers and would not apply only to purchasing a first home. There are arguments on both sides of extending the credit. Those in favor of the expansion feel doing so would spur an increase in home sales and motivate buyers in the trade up market, thus increasing sales of higher priced homes.
